I had a query recently concerning my forthcoming pensions. Although the website is quite expansive on the subject I struggled to find the answer to my specific query. So I sent them an email and received a response which totally answered all my concerns. It did take about 10 days to come, but when it did it was in the form of a scanned letter and really informative.

After a death of a spouse, and the will leaves the half share of the property to the remaining spouse, what is the process for transferring the title of the property? I understand the IHT, but do not know whether there is transfer tax tp pay. If so at what rate? In this case both parties lived permanently in Spain for the last 9 years, and their home was their only property held in joint names.
