The typical brown cockroach,  can get to about 5 cm's ! I've seen pretty big ones!

With reference to the eggs, I said "typical advice that everyone gives" not that I say it is true. May well be a myth or an urban legend that "advice" which people generally give but the rest is certainly not a myth.

One thing I can't get used to is cockroaches they just make my hairs stand up on end. In England, cockroaches rarely crossed my mind, to be honest I can't say I ever saw one. I didn't know much about these resilient creatures apart from the typical advice that everyone gives; don't squash them their eggs will go everywhere! I knew they were tough but did you know that a cockroach can live for a week without its head, can run at 3 miles an hour, can hold its breath for 45 minutes under water, live without food for a month and just survive off limited resources like glue? Did you know cockroaches have 18 knees, and that their mouths work sideways? All I can say is that I am so glad the temperatures are dropping and these little buggers are out of sight atleast until next summer!

Do you ever get used to them? What is the most effective way of treating them?

Absolutely shocking. I couldn't bring myself to eat horse meat. Poor animals. Why would you eat horse meat? That's what the soldiers ate during the war when they had no choice and were starving. They would take the dead horses from the battle field and use them for food. But given the choice, horse meat would certainly not be one of them, I don't care how tasty some people say it is, in a civilised world there a some things one shouldn't eat and horses are one of them.

In reply to the question, as I'm not sure why people are talking about agents fees (forgive me,I'm new to this)  I'm not really sure why people may want to return to the UK. But I would imagine that it is an accumulation of issues, maybe they are getting too old and want the family closer, maybe their pension isn't enough and need family help or maybe it is because they have simply not found what they wanted or hoped to find. I personally think that Spain is cheap enough and still cheaper than the UK. I feel I am very lucky as we own a lovely house in the country with our own well and even solar power energy, so my overheads are very low and we can make our pension go a long way. Now I am thinking of growing my own vegetables and would love to have some fruit trees. Something I could never have done back in the UK.
