Spanish car insurance is better than the UK equivalent because not only do you get full cover including breakdown throughout the EU but is for any driver over 25, cars are insured in Spain not people as they are in the UK.

Having said that the premiums are higher and there are no really cheap companies, I have comprehensive on my Spanish registered Ford Tourneo Connect 1.8 TDCi for 425€ whilst I also have comprehensive on an American 2.7 V6 convertible registered and insured in the UK for £180.

Good to see links to actual accurate information as well.

Once again the problem here is misinformation, your post is mostly correct, however, you do not have to exchange your UK licence for a Spanish one until it expires, in fact the DGT web site has covered this, albeit in Spanish obviously, with instructions on how to 'register' your UK licence with your local Trafico department. EU law states that all EU licences are valid in all EU Member States until expiry irrespective of the country of residence, this is why all EU licences are virtually identical.

I think you are missing the point, people come to these forums for verfiable accurate information not 'hearsay', there are so many assumptions and misaprehensions on these boards that it is becoming increasingly difficult to discover correct information.

One such point would be to say that the spelling of disc/disk is dependant on whether or not you are from the UK, which is total rubbish, there is only one spelling of disc as in a circular shape and that is disc!  The confusion arrises in the context of computer media, disc refers to optical media and disk refers to magnetic media, which is a totally different subject.

All I am saying is that before making comments on blogs and forums make sure your information is correct and accurate.

I post only actual, verifiable facts not 'experiences'.  DVLA will post a tax disc overseas if you follow the directions in their website.

Pointing out typing and grammatical errors serves only to highlight the level of literacy (or lack of it in your case).

So, if we are going to be small minded then:

i) It is tax disc not disk.

ii) Capital I in your second paragraph is missing.

iii) Pointing not pinting out, unless that was a lame attempt at sarcasm.

I think that most members will agree with me when I say that these type of forums can do without people like you.

The purpose of forums is for sensible people to gain accurate information and help from other like-minded people.
