Why don't you try Lebrija in Sevilla Provence, it is further south and west but can be surprisingly warm, certainly warmer and cheaper than the UK.

There is plenty to do and see within easy reach e.g. Jerez de la Frontera famous for sherry and dancing horses, flamenco and not to forget seafood, El Puerto de Santa Maria also in the sherry triangle was where Cristobel Columbus provisioned his ships before setting sail for the New World. Cadiz is a must see also being the oldest city in Europe. Further afield and well worth the trip is Sevilla, Córdoba and Ronda world famous on their own right.

From my experience expats prefer to be in coastal areas as Sevilla is uncomfortably hot in the summer and very expensive all year round, probably the most expensive city in Andalucia. Jerez may suit you better it is cheaper, friendlier and 20 mins from beautiful beaches with a lovely cooling breeze.
