The truth about Orihuela Costa - jewel of Spain s Costa Blanca !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also don´t like tp read this rubbish about our lovely Costa...what do people expect sometimes??? Money growing on the palm trees? When you want to live here you need to take the good and the bad...
I love this country the coast and the inland, the nature and the build up areas...
Otherwise I would life somewhereelse

I think people "expect" a clean environment without rubbish dumped here & there also no sewerage turning up on beaches. I appreciate some problems mentioned aren't confined to the OC. You can be robbed anywhere & I have a few friends who have been & we, ourselves, were lucky not to be mugged at Alicante airport car park at 11pm once, the older couple in front of us at the car hire desk were ! The gentleman was pushed to the ground & his wife went to his aid & a guy snatched her handbag & ran to a waiting car & they sped off. They lost the ladies handbag containing their passports, cc's, cash, both of their heart medications etc. Very scary.

As for "Money growing on the palm trees?"   Come on !! 

                       

I think we can all agree that there are things that could be done better but if people put their efforts into putting things right rather than whinging about it all the time then the coast and probably the world would be  a better place.
The main reason for the deficencies are because there has been a major influx and population explosion and they have not been able to keep up,in saying that if you make an educated decision about being there then you should really know what the area is like before moving there.
It is a little like buying a house next to the runway at Heathrow and then moaning about the noise.
It will get better in time.
whatever people think of the OC nobody is getting robbed and killed by marauding youths on a daily basis,maybe people have short memories for why they actualy came here........
I have a very simple solution to anyone who does not like Spain for what it is,wherever you are turn due North,start walking after a month or two you will start to reach water,unfortunately tou will have to swim that bit,when you hear a faint grumble again your not back on the OC your back in the UK!
From what i have heard recently you will pass a lot of Afghans and Iraqis fleeing the country because what they thought was refuge apparently is TOO dangerous a country to live in!!
Just a saturday afterrnoon grumble caused by too much paperwork and the thought that i would rather be out in the 30 degree sunshine that in the office........
Spain is like any relationship,never perfect but if you work at it very rewarding..........

this is an awful thing, which happened to theese people at the airport. I´ve got robbed twice in the house, but I said to myself to take better precaution in the future and been lucky they only took a few Euros which where left in the house...but I used to live in the states and saw really bad things, so I think: you about theese things and you have to watch what you do whereever you are...
Georgia, you are right about that, but the rubbish is the fault of the people, lots of small builder throw there materials everywhere and lots of holiday makers likewise...I think either one learns to live with theese downsides or...leave ???

This is why I´m looking to move further inland...the noise..

We had some family staying in a rented Villa towards the beach by Hotel La Zenia.Last Wednesday 21st we went to have a drink with them (Daughters Birthday) at the Harley Bar and watch the Football.During the evening a member of the family came running back to the bar and told us the Villa had been burgled.
when we got back we found the Front door had been kicked in and the place had been ramsacked it was a mess.Money,clothes,shoes ,cameras,even toiletries had been stolen, all exept for the passports which were left on the bed. The police were called and when they arrived they spent 5 mins walking around then left.
The following day they went to the Police Station/Town Hall with a interpreter and waited in a queue of a dozen people all reporting the same thing,needless to say the holiday was ruined.they just wanted to go straight back and not come back again.(NOT A GOOD ADVERTISEMENT).
The Police do not seem bothered has far as they are concerned it can all be claimed back on insurance.Why can.t the Police do something about it they know who these people are,they need to crack down on them.

I´ve been through this myself and yes the police is not very helpful with this, they need to get more specialist to fight back theese crimes. The bandits know that they are not going to be catched...the only way to protect ourselfes is to know your nieghbaours, build up good relationships and everybody keeps an eye open for the others....

We have Neighbourhood Watch on our urb. Everyone looks out for everyone else & notices have been displayed all over the urb warning would be burglers they are being watched by someone.

I own on Orihuella Costa and love it!
We have never been mugged, driven off the road, or burgled.
It is unfortunate that some people have had bad experiences in OC, but come on, this happens all over Spain AND the UK!
At least in OC we have beautiful beaches, (never seen any faeces personally), and a good infrastucture.
Unlike some urbs where they have all the roads in place, but only a few properties have been built
Some places look like the wild west!
Unfinished urbs are unsightly and there is more risk of being burgled as there are fewer properties/residents to keep an eye on things. 
So don't be put off of an area by some geek blogging about it on the web.
Go there, see for yourself and make your own decision.
Stay a while, get the feel of the place, count how many times you are robbed, accosted or burgled.
These things happen to the minority.........
As for the streets full of rubbish.................what a load of rubbish!!
Yes, you get the odd thing put by the bin, they soon get taken away or picked up by the scrap man.
It really isn't THAT bad!!

The most people that get mugged are holiday maker, which leave the doors open...walk around very drunk at night...that´s like a written invitation ...please robbed me...so like everywhereelse in the world. watch your back take precaution and you´ll be OK...

Im in the middle of buying on the oc in an area called playa flamenca is it as bad as der makin it out to be?????

I have lived in the Playa Flamenca area for over 5 years now.........................and NO, it's not that bad, in fact, it's NOT bad.
