First Steps

Ok -  my wife and I want to buy a place in Spain. We know roughly where, at first it will be for extended holidays as our children are still in education .

Will need to sell our house first and downgrade to a base in the UK and then buy in Spain.

What should our first steps be?

Spain is a huge country with enormous differences in weather, facilities, culture, airport access etc so first you should spend time in the areas you are thinking of moving to, visit in winter and summer, be realistic and imagine spending all your time there.........is there anything to do in winter, do you want quiet or busy rural or coastal.........etc.  Rent don´t stay in hotels on your research trtips  to give you a feel for living there, shopping etc......don´t take an Agenbts visit as yoiu will be "guarded"

We want to live near Competa in the Axarquia. My sister lives in the region and I know the area quite well having spent about 9 weeks there in the last 3 years.
