NIE NUMBER

Hi, , My Husband and I are in the process of buying a property in Entre- Naranjos and have been told we need to get  our NIE numbers. Can anybody help with some information.

I have read lots of reports and have conflicting information!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  

1 Do we  have to  attend the local police station  to get our number in  Los Montesino or can we go to any police station in the area.

2 : Some sites say that  you can get somebody  to get it for you as long as they have the your P O A others say thats not possible. Looking online there are companys that offer this service from england but this costs 330 euros. 

Can anyone throw some light here.

Just thought Id post this, hoping that  this might help other trying to get a NIE number.

The site that you passed on to me was very helpful. Thank again Nigel.

We decided to go up to the Spanish Conulate in London, and what a easy process it was the lady in the Conulate was very helpful and it took no more than 15 mins and cost us £7.80 each ( cash only). The Conulate said we will get our NIE numbers by E-mail within Three weeks.

Will keep you posted.
