Just out at Condado for a long weekend. Resort very quiet but then we like it that way. Went to Lr Troquet last for their 12.50 euro menu - fabulous & would highly recommend it.

I would have liked to try the food but as soon as I walked in, the horrid smell in the place over powered all of us and had to,leave.
We then tried book and again the smell was horrid?!

Can t the staff notice the smell?

Had a great meal at the American diner, but it was a bit of a poor show when taking American guests to Spain only to have to end up at an American diner due to the smells in other places.

Shame.

I'm glad you had a good meal though, I will try again next time,

Neil

Why did you not mention it to the staff.

Sometimes, when you live or work in an enviroment for a few hours or so you become aclimatised to smells. Maybe they would have investigated it had they known.

There actually was a smell but after about a minute it was not even unnoticeable - I would have mentioned it but we forgot as initial smell seemed to disappear so quickly & then our food and service was great.

When we went the smell was there and no one was in the place ( or at the boko ) .
Rather than being totally brash and walking directly to the staf and say " sorry were leaving your place smells" or something like that, I felt on this occasion as we were entertaining guests it was easier to walk out. I would not have mentioned anything but just that I saw someone say they had a great meal there, which is good, I hope I will be able to some time soon.

I am sure if the manager came in or any of the staff went out for a short while they would have smelt it when entering.

You do not have to say something the very first time something is not quite right. Like I say it could have been just a one off and it was just a shame.

The smell was probably the food, my friends and myself ate there and it was one of the worst meals I've ever had, mussels looked like they'd already been eaten, onion soup like boiled brown water, dinner freezing cold, I'll not be going there again, probably ever......

We ate at the French restaurant La Troquet last night for the first time. New staff and menu according to a notice board. It was fairly busy even though the resort is very quiet at this time of year. The food was good with good service. My fish skewer starter was excellent. Typically French main course not served with veg which detracted from it and if I was doing my Gordon Ramsay thing, I would say they could reduce the size of portions and still be good, less is more sometimes.

It's not cheap, 62€ for two with nice bottle of wine. Got to say the menu del dia offers that abound at 9€ per person elsewhere off site take some beating. The Tennis Club at Totana, probably the best we have had so far. La Troquet! worth a visit in my view and they will do well this summer.

By the way, the new small bakery, very pleasant and cheap for freshly made sandwiches if you are out for the day. Jon Faulkner.

Le Troquet has changed its menu to have a mix of French and Mediterranean dishes...hopefully it will appeal to a wider market...hoping they do well!!
