Recording TV

Does anybody know if it's possible to get a Digi box that will record the TV programmes and is compatable with our service on Condado ? Or is there some other way of doing this ?

Yes it is but there are some things to bear in mind.

The signal on CDA is DVB-C (Cable) - not T or S,  C is much less common in the UK

The programme guide is only "Now & Next" so on a Saturday you can't browse through to Coronation Street on Monday and select record as you can on Sky +. You can of course set this manually ready for Monday as we used to do on our old VCR's (date, channel, time)

Dreambox seem the best bet IMHO, beware there are loads of non genuine boxes on the market.

I found these guys to be very helpfully and the pricing was good www.satstore.co.uk, expect to pay around £180-£200 for a Budget unit plus the hard drive will be extra but you choose the size.

I bought a Samsung DVR bought in the UK that supports DVB-C and has a 500Gb hard drive. Works well in Condado and was approx £130.

 

 would a uk sky + box work over here in condado ?

 

 Nope,

A2Z provide a cable service not a satellite one so a SKY box will not work, I've tried :-(

The only way to get SKY is with a dish.

I bought these two. Interestingly though, the price seems to have gone up.....

The 8500 has two tuners and the 8200 only has one.

Both bought via Amazon but I think one came from Richer Sounds (which was fine) and the other from "thecamerashop" and it seemed refurbished and they refunded £15 in compensation.
