Hello everyone!

My husband, Dave & I have been following this site with much interest as we also have bought  an apartment on Mojon Hills- Penthouse phase 4a last July ( is this the same as yours Pauline?) and decided that it's about time to join in & register.

We only visited the one site when we were out in Spain & decided there & then that Mojon Hills was for us, although judging by other threads posted it sounds as if it may be some time off being completed!

Last time we were out we stayed at a nice hotel called La Cumbre in Puerto de Mazarron, I would be interested to hear of anywhere more local to the development if anyone has any info, also any tips for good deals on flights as we have a 4yr old who has recently started school & the flights are very expensive unless we take her out of holiday time.

Sharon.

Dave and Sharon,

I have bought in phase 3a, top floor apartment.

What was your experience like in La Cumbre in Puerto de Mazarron? I am going at start of March for a few days to have another look around the area, I was thinking of stopping in Cartagena.

What are the La Cumbre prices like, do they have parking etc.? I would be interested to know.

I quite like it that there arnt too many hotels in that area, it makes the letting easier.

Not sure about cheap flights, but Monarch might be a good shot, when the new airport opens I expect there will be so healthy competition for a couple of years until they suss out the market.

If you are looking for car hire try carjet, they are half the price of easycar and have no insurance excess etc.

David.

Hiya David,

We found La Cumbre really good value as we needed a family room, it worked out at about £50.00 per night for 3 of us with breakfast but the prices vary according to season, the hotel has a pool & good bar/restaurant ( very important!!) Parking was a bit hit & miss as there is only limited parking outside but a lot of little streets around. We really liked the area in the evening as it's quite busy, the promenade that is being built when finished will take you straight to Isla Plana.

We haven't been to Cartagena yet but need to go & sort out the NIE Number etc.

I'm glad to hear that you took the plunge and bought as Dave & I had been reading your postings on your return from Spain & we were urging you on, we think that the development is great.

Thanks for the info on car rental, enjoy your trip in March- u lucky thing, we can't wait to get back.

Sharon.

Hi David and Sharon,

Look forward to seeing you when you come over, and will ensure you have a great day out when I take you to Cartegena for your NIEs.

Mel says hi and is ready for a Portobello night even karaoke if you are up to it.

And if anybody needs photos you know I can provide them, although I do not know why people are not getting them as their agents are all capable of taking photos.

See you soon, Paul and Mel. In The Sun.

Hi again,

If you go to the La Cumbre hotel web site at http://www.hotellacumbre.com/ when you get to the photo of the hotel click on the entrance door you will come to the reservation page. On here you will normally find a special offer button, just click it and you get a better rate than just turning up. Currently 22 euros per night.

Paul,

Thanks for the recommendation for Le Cumbre, I have booked myself in.

I really wished I had bought my property from you, you seem far more uptodate that who I bought from.

Paul, you don't have plans/details on what the commercial area will be like between phase 3 and the sea do you? I am currently getting suggestions it will be 3 storey apartments!?

I am coming to Puerto de Mazarrón end of the first week in March to do my NIE etc., how easy is it as the agent I am with seems to be making it very difficult? What do I need, where do I go etc?

Hope you can help.

David.

Hiya David,

Glad that you decided to stay at Le Cumbre, only wish that it was us!!

The staff are very friendly but if you decide to have a few beverages then return to the garden for a pizza & glass of wine, they don't ask you to leave, they just turn the water sprinklers on!! (but it was very late!)

If your stay includes a Sunday try not to miss the outdoor market which you can see from the front bedroom windows of the hotel.

As far as  N.I.E numbers go all that we have to do is make an appointment with our solicitors, PALS (which is just at the bottom of the road to Le Cumbre) to sort out the paperwork then Paul is taking us to Cartagena Police Station to rubber stamp.

We are looking to go over to sort out the N.I.E numbers & Spanish Wills in the near future when it would be good to meet up with any other buyers that are out.

Sharon & Dave

Hi there,

I was going to say getting an NIE is as easy as spreading butter on bread; but I really like Sharon and Daves answer. They forgot to add once we have done the rubber stamp at the police station we then go to a lovely floating restaurant in Cartegena marina for coffee and toast.

Also the commercial area has no plans as it has not been finalised. It could be a small hotel or it could be shops. The builder will be doing the construction themselves so views should stay unaffected. Once plans are available my clients will receive copies.

Thats it for now, got a job to do. Bye

Hi there we have recently bought an apartment on phase one (resale) and
are
really excited about finally owning a property in Spain. We have been
looking for a couple of years but when we visited Mazarron and saw
these we
were smitten. We last saw the development in October but are flying out
on
23rd Feb to see how things are getting on, really looking forward to
it. We
are looking into different options of furnishing the apartment, quite
tempted by the idea of the furniture packs depending on how flexible
they
will be, on the other hand we are considering doing it all ourselves
especially with IKEA being so handy.
So far we have been really lucky as the whole process has been quite
straightforward however that is probably largely due to the expert
guidance
we received from Maura & Pat at ADS. Would love to hear from any other
buyers especially if you are on phase one and hoping to complete in
April.
Glenda & Tony

Hello Glenda & Tony,

We are on block one of phase one, and yes, we are looking forward to completing in April (ish).  Like you, we are considering ikea for furniture, but took advice from other members of the forum and plumbed for Atlantia's own air conditioning pack at 2800 euros.

Will you be using the apartment for renting or ultimately, as a permanent home?

We were supposed to be in Spain this week but had a little drama with a roof that changed our plans...  Please can you take some photos when you go and share them with us?  We would love to see the progress.

Nice to hear from you

Regards

Keith

Hi Glenda + Tony

We are phase one block 3 upstairs, initial purchasers so we have been waiting a very long time. We considered buying all the furniture ourselves but after seeing what was on offer in the package decided to go down this route as we wouldn't have to arrange everything to arrive from countless suppliers during our visits. We went to the actual furniture shop and was impressed by the overall quality, did make a few changes.

We also went for the A/C package for similar reasons.

As completion dates are very flexible and always just outside our grasp we might visit in March.

Regards

Mike + Deb

Thanks for your replies, great to hear from future neighbours! We have
already become good friends with a couple who have bought the apartment
next door to us.
Will definitely be taking some pictures and will try to upload them to
show how things are progressing. We are getting the keys so we will be able
to look inside to check there too. Not sure which block ours is but we
have one of the top floor apartments with the solarium – it was the amazing
views from here that helped us decide this was the place for us.
I think it has all been quite straightforward for us as we knew from
the start where each phase was, what was being built there etc. from the
plans we were given. Things we are keen to find out are when the pool area
will be ready? When we will have to start paying the community charge? Etc
we do expect to be renting it out eventually but for the first year just our
family & friends will use it.
We have bought as a holiday home & investment but do plan to move out
there permanently in 4 or 5 years by which time we will have finished funding
our daughters through university.
Just counting down the days till we go now – this time next week 

Regards
G & T

Hi there!

We thought that we should get involved in discussions seeing that Glenda and Tony had mentioned us! We are their new neighbours 'to be' on Phase 1 and bought at the same time as them. We too thought the development had some great potential and are really excited about the future prospect of the build. The views really are fantastic and the whole area seems to just have a good feel about it. Looking forward to seeing the next lot of photos to come back (thanks Glenda & Tony!) to show us the progress. I believe the weather is pretty good out there at the moment and hope it stays the same for you two travelling next weekend. Happy to keep in touch with all of you and will let you know any news as we hear it.

Look forward to meeting you all.

Jane & Fran

Hello

It's nice to read messages from all you Phase 1 people. We are Phase 2 and your experiences and info will be really valuable to us - eventually, so do hope that you will continue these conversations once you are basking in the sun! We have now been told that the builders are hoping Phase 2 will be ready at the end of this year (they are not the only ones hoping!), but we can't get any clearer idea than that! It's very frustrating as we have put off plans for 2 winters in a row now for being out in the Alps for the ski season just in case we have to get out there to Spain and sort this out with 6 weeks' notice or whatever they eventually give us! Do we have any other Phase 2 people out there (we are Block 1).

Rather worryingly it appears that the 20 or so villas that were going to be built between us and the original road down below are going to be a bit closer and higher than at first thought - does anyone else have a view on this - are they Atlantia properties? My promised uniterrupted sea view (from 1st floor terrace) appears to now be interrupted by someone else's house, nothing is certain it appears until all is completed!

As for NIE numbers, we did have good directions from our agent (which is about all they have done it has to be said!) and we found our independent trip to Cartagena police station much easier and quicker than anticipated. But, get there early (0900) and bypass the apparent queue (migrant workers hoping for papers mostly), and don't rely on your agent (or not on ours at least!) to go and pick up the NIEs for you - ours promised and then forgot!

Some of you Phase 1 people must be using a local solicitor - does anyone have any recommendations please?

Sorry, sounds like a lot of moaning - hope to go out and check things out for real soon, but a bit scared in case it's all too disappointing!

Hi, Leigh

Have Atlantia told you that Phase 2 is hoping to be finished by the end of the year, or was it your agents.  They are still informing us that it will be the end of the Summer, but knowing that Phase 1 hasnt been completed yet I know this will be very unlikely.

We too, have missed out on our annual skiing holiday this year (and yes, I am sulking) because we thought we would save our funds and spend the money in Spain (furniture etc) but at this rate, it sounds like I won't be going next year either

We are travelling out their at Easter, so will keep you up to date on Phase 2 and will take plenty of pictures.
Atlantia have just posted some more pictures on their site, and I think there is one of your block.

Regards

Sarah

and ours is the one in the middle.  Not ready until 2008/9.  When is completion on yours in 4A ?

Hello Pauline,

When we bought ours (phase 4a) we were told that the completion date would be September 2009, but who really knows?!

We were tempted to buy a villa on an earlier phase but the views from the penthouses on ours  won us over even though we may have a bit of a trek up hill to reach them!

We are going out in May to see the solicitor & go to Cartagena for N.I.E numbers, we will be meeting up with our agent, Paul who is very clued up so we will ask him what his feeling is on the completion date & we will take lots of photos to share with other buyers.

Sharon.
