Hi all - we all bought into this development on the basis that it would be a "quality" development - De Vere association, first rate golf course, Sam Torrance club captain (PGA association later) etc.  In the very long-run I do believe that this will be true and agree with all of the positive comments that have been made.
However whether you purchased on this development for investment / holiday home or retirement move:;  I do feel that the majority of people will have felt let down by the slow progress that has been made by this developer.  It will be a long-time before the resort is really what I imagined it to be when I first paid my deposit.  You only have to look at the discussions on the Roda site to appreciate how Calidona may delay things.  Add this to the "credit crunch" and the postings on this development stating that areas will be "grassed over" until more units may be sold is not encouraging.
For many months I have tried the re-sale option but to absolutely no avail.
I am now seeking alternative options.  In order to do this however I do require some of the original sales literature or copies of (circa Phases 1 and 2) and would greatly appreciate any help on this matter.  Perhaps a PM would be the best way of getting the ball rolling.
I know that I will anger some people by creating this post and I apologise if this is the case.

PS anyone else angered by Pablo's push for completion in his recent e-mail and not yet received a new guarantee?

Hello mr unhappy

To say that i am angry is an understatement, Pablo does just not get it, offers for this and that, received another e-mail from him today regarding what documents we need at the notary and signing of the deeds, absolutley no mention of our outstanding guarantee, the penny just will not drop, im getting really tired of sending numerous e-mails regarding our guarantees only to be totaly ignored, and then to find a new e-mail regarding other issues without such a mention of the the issues  that matters most to us at this present  time i find is amazing.

His latest e-mail today includes the words to continue our ongoing commitiment to you,( what a joke ).

Hi having experienced buying two other properties in Spain my view is that Calidona are offering good service compared to the other developers I have dealt with. With the others I never experienced the professionalism and information which Calidona are currently offering. I was never informed about anything in advance (without pushing for it) and in fact when I have approached them my response from them has often been rude and arrogant.  Maybe it's in Calidona's best interests to make sure buyers are ready to complete on time but wouldn't we all like to know what's involved sooner than later?

You have to speak as you find but I find Calidona a breath of fresh air compared to some. I know people are concerned about the guarantees but we know they are being issued and it is just a case of Calidona getting through them all. Maybe they could have handled things better but generally I find the company to be very professional in everything they do.

Trevor

Perhaps I should change my forum name to "MrAtLeastIDidn'tPurchaseSomewhereElseInSpain!"
I agree that it is in the best interests of Calidona to know about intentions to complete.  However my point is that their track record of giving us useful information / updates to their customer's is dreadful unless it involves a payment for something or other.
I appreciate your points Trevor but could you honestly say that if you were to contact Corvera about when the entire resort will be completed (including all the facilities) would they give you an honest / accurate answer?  Credit crunch aside they have messed phase 4 Roda purchasers around and are increasingly likely to drag completion of Corvera in my opinion.
PS could anyone please help me with my hunt for original marketing literature?

I´m normally very positive and on the whole still am. However, my main concern is the full completion of the development including all facilities promised at the outset. There are lots of developers who start with good intentions and then as soon as the houses are completed they move onto other developments or dont have the money to provide all of the features originally specified. ´Spain is littered with these.

In saying that I think Calidona are showing signs that although these will materialise it might take much longer than expected (viewing the experience at Roda). I think that the owners/residents need to be very vigilent and put pressure to bear to ensure that once the houses are up that the leisure facilities do not get left behind and forgotten.
Also, if a reduced development is considered this can have ramifications for facilities provided. These all add up for those needing these to be available for rental occupancy / property values or for those in it for the long-term like me the experince of living in the development with all the facilities that were originally promised.

If Calidona delay the commencement of their new development (the name escapes me) that might be good news as it could ensure that they don´t take their eye off the ball.

If there are any people out there with knowledge of Spanish Law, here's a question for you.
As previously stated, a lot of people bought with the Calidona advertised belief that Corvera would have a De Vere hotel, restaurants, shops, sports and equestrian centres. Can purchasers demand a limited amount of time after completion for these things to come into fruition and can that be put into a contractual annex on the completion documents? At least then if they don't, compensation could be sought for breach of contract!

I work further down the coast and there is an urbanisation near here where there was a whole range of facilities originally promised such as golf course and commercial centre. These have never materialised. I believe legal action has succeeded in forcing the developer to build a golf course but one or two residents I speak to expect the developer to drag its feet and are pessimistic about seeing any progress in nthr forseeable future.
