The following e-mail communication has just been sent from Polaris World…..

RULES REGARDING ACCESS TO THE POLARIS WORLD GOLF COURSES

Dear Sir/Madam,

Polaris World Management would like to remind all Residents that they may only access the Golf Courses if they are in possession of a valid green fee and tee time.

Entrance to the golf course is strictly prohibited for all other Residents and Visitors from other Resorts who are not playing golf due to the risk of injury.

On numerous occasions our golf teams have encountered whole families waking on the buggy paths, people jogging across the course and even children playing in the bunkers. Such activity poses an enormous risk for these people as if a child or an adult were to be hit by a golf ball it could result in serious and possibly permanent injury.

For this reason we kindly request that our residents refrain from using the buggy paths and the golf course in order to avoid a tragedy.

Over the next few weeks we will be erecting more signs to warn of the dangers on golf courses. If this does not deter residents from venturing onto the golf course we will be obliged to fence off the golfing areas, thus preventing access.

We hope you understand our concern and will be grateful of your cooperation.

Kind Regards

Hope we are not going to get 6 ft fences across our front line golf apartments. That is not what we bought for. I do understand the concerns over safety but It can be monitored by a course superintendant patrolling the course (as he should do to speed up play) and not at the expense of residents.

I guess that once everyone.....residents and guests are made aware of these rules and abide by them it should not come to erecting fences. The golf course is the private property of Polaris World and does not belong to the Community, so at the end of the day they are 'trespassing' and not covered by any insurance. Ultimately PW can do what they want on their property if it comes to that, they set the rules, but I am sure at the moment it is just PW publicising the existing rules as a lot of people were either unaware of them...or just chose to ignore them!. Now there is no excuse.

Sounds familiar, remember the pets issue?  Again it largely comes down to the community and everyone using the resort ensuring they take responsibility for their own actions..........and children.  Yes enjoy the resort, but children playing in the bunkers is clearly unnacceptable.

This needs nipping in the bud and I suggest all owners and permanent residents do everything to assist PW to spread the word reagrding this issue.  As ColatLT's post correctly identifies, the golf course is private property and if PW do erect fences, which they are entirely entitled to do, it will ruin the aesthetics of the entire resort.

I have friends living at Hacienda and they have on numerous occasions witnessed children happily playing in the bunkers while the parents looked on completely unconcerned.  This is not acceptable but my guess is they are not residents and therefore would not receive the said notice from Polaris!

I think the communication from Polaris is just to set the ground rules as it were and was aimed primarily at owners. They would then, and I would agree, that it is then the responsibilty of owners who are renting out to include those 'rules'  somewhere prominent in their brochures or house-books or whatever.
The memo does also mention that PW would be erecting some warnings about the dangers of golf courses, but not sure what wording and what tone these will take and where they would site them. I doubt it will be all the 'rules', but we will see.

With such a major safety issue for the Community it may well be that the HR Community Committee, in conjuntion or otherwise with PW, produce copies of the notification and deliver to each apartment as a re-inforcement of this message. It has certainly been posted on the HR Community Webiste www.hrgr.es

In my opinion the notice is a side issue.  Bunkers on a golf course do not double as sand pits for children to play in.  This should not need to be stated as it is, or should be blatantly obvious to anyone with an iota of common sense.

I will raise it with the HR community.

Ken.
