we completed on 25th march and still waiting for utilities, we have been marked as urgent for over three weeks now and still no joy, more concerned about gas connection as you can have builders supply of water and electric. I ring at least once a day to the call centre very frustrating as cannot rent out or anything.

We completed March 11th and still have no gas. We were told last week that there is a leaking pipe and that until it's mended we can't have our gas connected! We are on Phase 7 and we honestly feel we are the only ones in our block. The hallways and stairs have only just been cleaned, the hall lights now work. (they didn't last visit in May) But still no fire extinguishers in place.

Hi wheaty,
Polaris call centre used that old chesnut of a leaking gas pipe on phase two, when we were trying to get connected, the place must be a bomb site if we believe all the leak stories. The only way to get connected is keep hassleing them if you have someone on site like a snagging company or better still be there yourself ! its a stressfull time to get these things sorted but its the only way shout loud and you will be noticed.
regards andy

Thanks Andy. It seems like we've been shouting forever! But we'll keep on.

Wheaty,
We were actually renting on HR whilst furnishing and when we checked, we had a meter but no gas.

We went to see Anna in the call centre to explain that we were actually on-site and she told us that the  Repsol man was also on-site and she would schedule a visit from him.  He duly arrived the next day and commissioned the boiler for us.

It seems that if you are actually there, you will get a quicker service.  As Andy says, keep hassling - but in a nice way!!

If as you suspect, you are the only one in the block that hasn't been connected, then the leak is probably in 'your run' into the apartment which means you have got a meter.

Let the call centre know when you are coming out again and they may be able to pressure Repsol.

Good luck.

Hi HarrynHelen. My husband is there now. We were there in May and we called every day. The meter was there when we were over for completion in March. Its just so frustrating. Particularly as my son and his friends are going over for 10 days on 19th. Just don't know what to do anymore. Even spoken to our solicitor. It was she that found out about the leak. On her advice we are lodging an official complaint. Don't suppose that'll do much good either.

We completed in February this year and STILL have no gas, as has been said in this thread we have the "temporary" warer and electric but no hot water. When we stayed in the place for the first time last month with no hot water we had to boil 20 kettles and pans of water to put water in the bath and bathed in 1" of water (very difficult to wash one hair!)
I thought to myself this is totally wrong to be in this situation having paid 185000 eu for an apartment that 6 months down the line is not useable or rentable.
Most of us have all paid up to and in excess of 6 months mortgage payments for nothing, and no matter how much you complain moan contact the call centre, nothing seems to work.
The bottom line is we have all been "forced" to complete early to boost PW's cash flow situation, at the expense of their clients, these apartments should not have been released for signing off untill they were sure that connection to the utillities could have been assured ASAP.
We are due out in july to stay once again but I very much doubt that the gas will be on, so will have to wash again "commando style"
I am SO NOT IMPRESSED.

I completely agree shorts, and it would appear having spoken to my solicitor there is not a damn thing you can do about it. Do we have any solicitors in the forum? Is a property considered 'habitable' with no utilities? I though the developer had to obtain some kind of habitation certificate prior to completion?

Maybe we should all chip in and make ourselves a PW advert, like the ones being shown in UK at the moment, but highlighting the realities of the buying process and after sales problems.

I'm sure the threat of airing such an advert would spark Polaris into action.

Chin up,

Ken.

Spot on Kenny,
we completed in March and still haven't got gas. I contacted our solicitor yesterday to see if there was anything we could do.
I'm all for starting to create a unified campaign and trying to force Polaris into some action. I feel that we should be due some compensation if we have been unable to rent out or use our apartments properly. Polaris advised us at completion that we would would have water, gas and electricity within 60 days of completion.

Is anyone else up for a bit of Polaris bashing? I am due to complete 21 July so I don't know how smoothly my utilities connection will go yet. I am going to try and get a date through my solicitor from Polaris in writing linked to compensation for delays. I am not very hopeful as I have noticed some solicitors in Spain don't like confrontations, especially with a large well known developer, but I ill let you know how it goes.

Regardless, even if I have no problems at all, the fact that some members of the HR community STILL have no utilities months after completion really is not on. It is bad enough having an unfinished resort without the added insult of having no utilities as well.

This could be the first real test of the strength of our community. It will be interesting to see if we are ALL prepared to come together to help out those having problems with their utilities connection? I will open a new thread for this purpose.

A question, is there only one provider of utilities in our area or is there a choice?

Ken.

It took over 4 months to have the utilities all connected after completion, that was Dec07 to Apr 08.

I think this is pretty much the standard time.

You have to keep emailing & phoning & if you are going over to stay make sure they out the builders supply on.

I would also get a keyholder who can confirm on their weekly checks if anything has been switched on.

Kenny,
the information that I originally received from these boards was that Iberdrola (I think that's the right spelling) were the gas provider but, on further investigation, it would seem that they were the provider for La Torre but Gas Natural are tthe provider for HRGR.
As far as I'm concerned, I'm not worried about water and electricity as we can request builders supply and would'nt be paying for those, but gas is essential for hot water.

Paul.

Paul,
I too had heard about GasNatural but I can confirm that Iberdrola have taken money out of my account for connection and consumption.

We're on phase 1 so can't imagine suppliers have been switched halfway through - but stranger things have happened!

Hi HarrynHelen,
Polaris gave me this info' themselves so I presume it's right ! Maybe they switched because of the volumes involved ?

HarrynHelen,
this is the e-mail that I received from HRGR Call Centre on 13/6 :

In La Torre Repsol are the gas providers, but in Hacienda Riquelme it's Gas Natural. Each company operates in a specified area so we don't get to choose who the supplier is. They are two separate companies.

I got connected at last! I completed 29th Feb on Phase 7 and have been calling practically every day for months. We had a leak to the block, a leak at my meter and then further unexplainable delays. I arrived Friday 20th June, no hot water. Gas meter seemed to be on, but boiler kept telling me "no gas". So, cold showers it was until Monday morning in a fit of pique I turned on the tap, fiddled with the blue tap and lo and behold the boiler ignited and piping hot water gushed from the taps, heaven.

When I got back on Tuesday, I called the call centre who confirmed that the boiler had been "commissioned". I would have thought that by being "commissioned" it would have been working such that hot water just came out of the tap. It seems that the system needed priming......................

Such a nightmare, but hopefully over. I've turned down 4 bookings through lack of gas.......................

I agree that we should stand up to Polaris about this. I can't believe that they couldn't negotiate better service from Gas Natural bearing in mind the size of the contract. It is just bad management.
