Suzuki announces closure of Gijón plant

The Japanese multinational Suzuki today announced its "irreversible" decision to close its Gijón motorcycle plant, which employs 200 workers and supplies the entire European market, at the end of March next year. The CEO of Suzuki Motor Spain, Masayoshi Ito (pictured, left), announced the news during a meeting held in Oviedo with President of the Principality, Javier Fernández (pictured, right), and the Minister of Economy and Employment, Graciano Torre.

What a shame. We bought a Suzuki Vitara (car) in Spain and it was great. I presume the cars are made elsewhere, so I hope car production doesn't go the same way (if it hasn't already).
