Tax office are tracking down non resident tax avoiders.
05 November 2011 @ 17:06

Read on another forum today

"I have this week been shown 2 letters from the tax office sent to non residents who have owned a property in Spain since 2006 and not paid the relevant non resident taxes.

The letter is stating that the records show non resident tax forms have not been presented and giving the option to present the backdated forms and pay taxes otherwise they will impose sanctions.

The letters were sent via registered post and needed to be signed for.

If nobody is at the property to take delivery of such items, the tax office will put a notice in the official bulletin and they consider that to be sufficient notification of their intentions.

Many people do not know about the bulletin and it is only in Spanish, so I do wonder how many more of these letters are now being sent out."

QUITE RIGHT TOO! WHY SHOULD I PAY MY TAXES & OTHERS NOT?

There are a few residents who should do a tax return as well, even if they don't have income in Spain. Could help beneficiaries save tax. Those with earnings should be declaring them and help the economy- no matter where you are from

Being a non resident I have paid the non resident tax. Not knowing about the refuse tax I have to now pay for 5 years worth .I not complaining I just trying to notify that the spanish tax authorities are checking. They will give you time to pay. Like an idiot I thought it was paid in my communal tax. Also be aware of the garage tax if you haven't been paying.
