Jeeeeez there's some very irritating members on EOS these days!
Tuesday, August 23, 2011 @ 10:13 PM

 Thread after thread

Too many members are not posting because of the rudeness & the personal remarks directed at them or others for no reason. This has gone on far too long, it's not a new thing.

Currently there are a number here who just incite others to respond & then all hell lets loose which it seems is what they love.

Maybe the members who've left might return if they felt that the issue was being addressed as it certainly NEEDS addressing.

I think these out of line members should be disciplined by Justin or banned from the site for a month or two.

I have been working through quite a few spam complaints this evening. We also have a new system in place which automatically bans a member if we receive too many spam reports for thier posts, so if people are out of order, or just spamming, the more spam reports we get the quicker the problem is sorted.

The forums have their ups and downs, that's for sure!

Very true, some real nasties who don't appear to have anything better to do have certainly popped up. They can dish it out but certainly can't take it !! Hopefully they'll wear themselves out eventually, they've certainly worn a lot of other people out......

Unfortunately every ex-pat forum has it's share of bitter and know-all individuals. In many cases (not all, I hasten to add) it is the old guard who have been posting for a considerable period of time that seem so intolerant of others, especially newbies. Forums are for sharing opinion and helping others where possible, it is not a public arena for ridicule and insult.

Let's try to return to the point of the forum and show understanding and tolerance, even if there is a clash of opinions. Would these people express themselves in the same manner when in company I wonder? If the rude and aggressive element are incapable of engaging in reasoned discussion then action should be taken against them to prevent their unwanted comments from causing the more rational members to abandon this forum.

The simplist solution is to set aside a column [or page] for the folks that like to harass normal [if any] posters. Personally i ENJOY reading outrageous postings.

As long as YOU aren't on the receiving end of someone's nastiness, OF COURSE, Zaphod!

Well said, Chris Thorpe!
"Forums are for sharing opinion and helping others where possible, it is not a public arena for ridicule and insult."

Unfortunately, all forums are likely to get trolls now and then.

And then of course there are those who think the forum is a closed shop, a sort of exclusive place for them only, no newcomers wanted!

I suggest a three strikes and you're out policy. Anyone having 3 posts removed by the moderators for breaking the forum rules because they ridiculed or insulted a fellow member should be banned. That would see the worst of them off, I can think of a few already.

Amazing how some don't visualise themselves to be in this category.

I wholeheartedly agree with Chris Thorpe !!!!
I find it difficult to understand why some people are consistently rude and disrespectful to the views of others on here, and obviously have zero tolerance for any comments that are the opposite of their own opinion.
Im glad that measures are being taken to put a stop to this ... there must be many people who are put off and uncomfortable with giving their views because of the hostile attitude and approach taken by some unsavoury characters!!

Well noted, Shiela! I truly believe there are some, one of whom has commented here, who "DON'T visualise themselves to be in this category". A certain know it all springs to mind!

Personally I find certain members feel they have a God given right to dictate yet, as has been said, do not realise they're doing it. I refer to Campana for one. If others don't like what she has to say she jumps on them then wonders why they retaliate. Search her posts, see how her posts ... nay RANTS .. have been edited by EOS team a number of times for going against forum rules.

Ella is quite correct as is Norman. I have been shocked at some of the nasty, personal and vicious uncalled for rants by Campana against other members. Some so bad they were removed by the moderators. I have been one her victims being called paranoid by her and I am the person she describes as ill mannered because I did suggest she left the forum after a particularly offensive rant she made against Norman, a rant that was totally unecessary and of no value to the discussion whatsoever, it was just a very rude personal rant that was removed by the moderators. She also called me a trouble maker because after another sarcastic remark she made I reminded her that she was the one who had had several posts removed for being so offensive. It seems she is in denial of what she has done or thinks it is OK for her to be so rude but then gets very indignant when anyone challenges her about her behaviour, a trait often seen in bullies. And so the Campana show rolls on, complete with some groupies...........I will refrain from any more comments on this subject but have my hard hat at the ready.

Campana appears to have stopped posting or, please God, she's been banned! What an obnoxious woman she seems, putting many down yet saying others are the bullies. She needs an anger management course. Anyway, not seen since 8th Sept so long may that continue. Hopefully she's irritating members of another forum.
