Winter walking
19 November 2011 @ 15:28

Steve has posted a video on YouTube of his recent walk in the mountains.  Go to 'Mulhacen in Winter' and you should find it.  Apologies for the quality, especially the sound at the end, but it will be better next time!

congrats Steve on your trip and video it really gave me the feeling of being there and loved the glimpse of Africa.Where did the road connect to do you think my GS650 would make it up there? I did ride over the top on a CB250RS a long time ago! Hope to see you when we are out in the spring we are looking to rent a house in La Taha for about 3 months in March. I enjoy your blog Linda thanks Hugh

Steve reckons that the road was near Alto de Chorillo but you can't take any vehicles beyond the barrier at the Area Recreativa Hoya del Portillo these days (except authorised mini-buses in the summer). We walked up above there on Sunday, into the snowline, and although beautiful that will probably be inaccessible even for pedestrians after another snowfall.
Cheers, Casalinda

Hi have just watched your video loved it. Hope there is going to be a lot more snow as we are coming up that way just after Christmas. We did this 2 years ago when there was hardly any snow so fingers crossed for this year. Linda 2

Thanks Linda Anne. We were up to our ankles in the stuff and sometimes our knees, at the weekend, just above the Area Recreativa barrier, and the nights are sub-zero up there now, so you should be OK. Have a look at the Mulhacen webcam to check!
