Gibraltar economy is booming

While it's neighbour Spain is struggling with 21% unemployment, mountains of public and private sector debt and low/no growth, Gibraltar is booming. According to the Gibraltar Chronicle:
- GDP last year £954 million – grew 6.5% (growth in economy).
- GDP 2010/11 provisionally estimated at £1 billion – growth of 5%
- Jobs in economy as at October 2010: 20,975, a record high. 525 additional jobs in year. 546 up in private sector, 20 up in MOD and 41 down in public sector.
- Gibraltarians in employment at record high of 10,706.
- Government surplus 2010/11: £31 million
- Capital expenditure 2010/11: £158 million
- Net Government debt: £217 million. 23% of GDP.
