Spanish Airports strike: Talks to resume 14th or 15th March?
12 March 2011 @ 14:42

The first round of talks failed.  However, the secretary general of the CCOO, Ignacio Fernandez Toxo cited next Monday, March 14 or Tuesday, the 15th as possible dates to hold a second meeting between union representatives and AENA to try to reach an agreement and rescind the strike notice issued by airport workers.

The Spanish airport workers are worried about loss of benefits, what about loss of jobs. Back here in the UK most people you talk to about the strike say if it disrupts their holiday plans they would never go back to Spain again, and im sure people feel the same way all over Europe, so less tourists a weaker economy lees flights into Spain = less jobs redundancies are inevitable the tourist can only take so much and there are plenty of other countries in Europe with the climate to equal Spain and a lot of them you get a loy moer for your pound

Im due to fly out to lanzarote on the 2nd of may with 12 girls for my sisters hens, if this strike goes ahaead and we dont get to go im never going to lanzarote or spain again. Why should the spanish be treated different? When our country was in trouble we had to sacrifice alot. This year is a great oppurtunity for them and there throwing it all away...:(

Oh what a selfish lot you are. How dare the Spanish try and protect their jobs and wages if they interfere with your precious holidays. Unbelievable arrogance!

Roy,
They wouldn't have jobs if it wasn't for the tourists. If the tourists stop coming to Spain, they lose their jobs anyway.
