Water melons are in season - very cheap at the moment
06 August 2011 @ 21:17

At this time of year in Spain, water melons are in season, which means they are very cheap.  I was in Lidl earlier today and they were doing them for 19 cents/kilo which is a fantastic price.  I was one woman with a trolley containing 8 giant water melons, and nothing else!!

They're really refreshing, especially on days like this when it is 35c!!

just got back from a week in la torre golf resort, my son 13 had a piece of melon that he had a bad reaction too that ended up with a day in hospital he went blue could not breath only for my wife being a nurse saved him ambulance took 40 mins to arrive, 112 did not speak english, only for the hotel ringing for us we may have lost him, just a warning to others if you dont speak the lingo, get someone who does to ring for help. also we still do not know why he had this bad reaction to the melon, that he has had before in england without any trouble, we have since been told maybe chemicals that they use to help grow being so fresh that its still on the skins?
only other gripe is the rip off fuel costs on hire cars, 70 euros for a tank of fuel in a MICRA?? this cannot be right, its will put people off hireing cars from airports, I would not use them again DICKMANNS Murcia airport working out of a van, booked through Bravo and cartrawler web site, also said free excess insurance and then sent sevral emails saying to buy excess for 5 euros a day on top?? then when I contacted them they said its a mistake and ignor them, then on arrival again tried to sell extra insurance to cover the underneath of the car? I am now waiting for them to say its damaged underneath?? Spain used to be a good cheap holiday, not any more its just a con with all the extras added they have all had lessons from ryanair how to pile the extras to up the cost once booked? 70 euros for a tank of fuel in a micra??? NEVER AGAIN
