You may be aware of this already, but the Town Hall in Benahavis has issued a demand for the Council Tax  2008. It has to be paid by 22 Dec. It was picked up by our lawyer, otherwise we wouldn't have known and would have incurred penalty charges. if you send us a PM with your email address, we'll send you more details.

 Peter,

We were told that when the developer bought the land from Marbella Club they bought it with the assurance from the Town Hall that there would be enough capacity to supply electricity to La Hacienda and Marbella Club. This proved to be wrong and they are now building a substation (the big white building by the new bridge) which should be completed soon and supply will change from builders supply to our own individually metered supply in the near future.  So it shouldn’t be too long before the lifts are working and we have to find another way to keep fit!

Yes there are problems at La Hacienda from time and this time is the electricity, but they happen in other developments too as well as in private homes and hotels. They are inconvenient, but they are a fact of life and hopefully don’t happen too often. But please do not use this open forum to which everybody has access and tell the world about it. Otherwise your first renters will probably be your last.

We just got back from 10 days in our apartment., our third visit since we completed in December. We loved it! Yes, the lift's don't work, but walking up the stairs to our penthouse kept us fit! The view is fantastic, the gardens are well tended to and look great, we saw gardeners at least twice a week. We had a swim in the pool which is kept clean. The area around the entrance gate seems to be tarted up. The staircases and landings and the garages could do with some cleaning, but we are sure this will be sorted as soon as the Management Company gets going. Sadly the first thing people will see when they approach the development are the two unfinished blocks (22 and 23) which don't look as if they will be completed in a hurry. But once you are through the gates, you are in a peaceful oasis. We have met quite a few other owners now and everybody agreed that La Hacienda is a great place.

And on the bridge front there seem to be some positive developments, too. According to Carolina the bridge will definitely be built. The very wealthy owners of Los Flamingos the other side of the hill together with Benahavis Town Hall are putting up the money. And even better news - they are also paying for an exit to the toll road just a little further along from the bridge. So fingers crossed we may get our toll road exit after all!

Hope to see some more of you next time we are out there.

This may be an unusual question given that this is an English Forum, but our apartment is on a German holiday rental web site and we already have a couple of bookings from German holiday makers. We have a Sky Box in the apartment and receive the usual UK channels, but can't get any German channels. I understand that the dish on the roof is probably facing the Sky satellite which is at a different angle to the German one, but is there any other way of receiving German TV  without adjusting the dish as we cannot do this due to everybody else in the block being English speaking? Our development is new (near Benahavis - Costa del Sol) and we don't have any telephone lines there yet, so cannot get Broadband or any other digital connection.

Would be great if anyone could help or point us in the right direction.
