Can anyone assist me?

We, like many others, can no longer pay our mortgage on a Villa in Sucina, Murcia. I have done everything possible to sell it at over €100,000 below what we paid, with no luck. Since completing on this property last July (2008) we have emigrated to North America and have been funding this Villa from our remaining funds until now, in the hope that we could sell it and just pay off the mortgage.

The bank has offerred a Dacion en Pago? but this entails paying for a valuation and paying for lawyers to act as Notories, which by the nature of my situation is rather baffling, because I have told them that I have no money left!

What are the differences between dacion en Pago or a Repossesion?

Surely I can just have the keys handed back to the bank? I have never been in this situation before.

Does the bank have any right to chase you for any other monies? Can they approach your UK bank to assist them? I have a very small amount kept in the UK to cover my daughters education costs, i cannot afford this to become jeopardised. Can Spanish banks go after your money in UK banks?

I hope that someone can help with these questions, I feel a bit in the dark and would prefer to just take my losses and lick my wounds rather than continue to worry about everything.

Where is your property?

We completed on ours in June and moved everything in in July. Ours is a Romera, we have been on normal Gas & Electricity since September. The water is still on builders supply at the moment. We do not live at Peraleja, we have visited a few times but are now going to rent it out as we cannot sell.

I know of at least 4 families that 'live' at Peraleja, quite a few more who visit regularly.

I too, would like to thank Lisa for making the effort!

it is too easy to think about doing something, life always gets in the way of finishing the idea.

I think that it is a bit rich for people to criticise Lisa for her actions. Any way, if you think that you will be sharing a drink in April/May in Corvera, you had better be wearing a hard hat, hi vis jacket and work boots!

Just to note, I visited my lawyer, in Spain, tonight. He has told me that there are legal precedents that would enable people to petition for lower prices if the advertised facilities are not provided.

Hi everyone
I too would be interested to join any group that is formed.
Just for information, I have contacted the Lawyer, Maria De Castro who posts on this site, about Corvera.
Now, I do not know her from Adam, but some of the threads sound reassuring about her. She seems to write in positive ways.
She is alsso not based in the Murcia area! 
It is clear that non of the Lawyers in the area are going to be that 'independent'?
Who would bite the hand that feeds them?

Perhaps she would be intersted in representing a Corvera group? 
It would be cheaper to approach this as a group than as individuals.

For the record, my wife and I are emigrating to Canada soon and our time is very limited, but we would support any action and pay our way in any such action.

Hi
Does anyone have any recomendations for obtaining long term rentals in the Costa Calida area?
We have a two bed, two bath Villa with private pool and would like to organise a long term rental as we are emigrating.
are there any specialist companies for long term rentals?
Doea anyone know of any Spanish agencies for such things?
