I have had some contact with Aifos. (via a representative)

They have offered me a swap from my 3 bed in Espuela (that hasn’t been built yet) for a 2 bed with garden in Brida that is almost finished.

Whilst I had them wanting something from me I managed to get some questions answered.

1)      Why hasn’t Espuela been started yet.

Because they are using the land as a access to get to the rest of the build.

2)      Is there any truth in the story that there is a foundation problem?

No. ( I actually believe this.)

3)      Will there be a habitation licence issued for Brida, knowing that the rest of the place is a building site?.

Aifos are trying to get the build split into two phases, if this happens then yes (probably)  I didn’t like this answer as it means I would have an apartment on a building site.

4)      How long before Espuela will be built?

No one knows, but not for a couple of years at least.

Apparently Aifos have been refused permission for the 3 extra blocks, but they have appealed, I am told they will not get that permission, but it is holding up the build. It seems to me that ANYTHING is capable of holding up this build.

I considered that if I said yes and the Brida block was given a habitation licence I would have to start paying the mortgage, but I wouldn’t be able to live in it or rent it out as it would still be on a building site.

Plus if you look at Brida it is right at the bottom on the end, and as the only places that have the garden are the ground floor apartments, the swap would be for a ground floor apartment, miles away from the swimming pool. So, I will then have a ground floor flat, right at the end of the building site that I can’t live in or rent out.

Would you want to furnish this apartment and then leave it until the rest of the build is finished ???? Errrrrrrrrrr NO.

I then looked on Google Earth at the build, this is interesting and you should look.

Go to www.googleearth.com download the program and then search for these co-ordinates. 36^31^34.00”N  --  4^38^57.00”W and this is the Espuela block. (or find it if you know where it is.

Once you get to see the building site, have a look slightly  above and to the right and you will see the Cemetery, and even higher and more to the right you will see the sewer plant.

I have been told it is ripe there when the wind blows the right/wrong way. This wasn’t on the brochure hahahahahah.

Anyway, When you look at where Brida is situated you will see that there is nothing stopping anyone from being seen climbing over the fence and nicking all the furniture and everything else.

So this isnt for me and I declined.

This was very much like deal or no deal, did I want to swap my box or keep it. It was tough knowing that I was told that if the market doesn’t change in the next year Aifos will go tits up.

I just pray that someone else will take the build over.

When we bought in 2002 we were told that air con was standard. fitted to all units, I would never have bought without air con.

Another reason not to have this apartment that isn't even started yet.

what a joke Aifos are, and the legal system for allowing them to change thier part halfway through a contract after it has been signed. :Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr:

Very little I read here or anywhere else about Aifos surprises me any more, But this thread has.

I was told that owning an apartment meant that we had first refusal on a storage shed and parking bay. I KNEW these were going to be sold as extras.

But AIR CON !!!!!!!!!!!.

Please tell me you are joking when you say that air con is optional and at a cost.

Not that it matters much as I bought in Espuela and since they haven't even dug a hole yet, the chances of ever switching on the air con is positively remote :):):).

Even 10k Euro is too much for a parking place, let alone 30k, All they are trying to do is get more out of the mugs that they conned 6 years ago.

Is he here T?

T is there right now, (well at the airport waiting to fly back) She wanted to go see Nick to tell him "something".
But we all know that would have been a waste of time, and only wound us up so more.

Staying positive Mr Newton is sorta hard when Aifos hasn't even dug the footings on my block yet and that's in 6 years :-)

Surely not , that would mean they would be asking me for money to take Aifos to court when they knew Aifos would be insolvent.

No mate you must be mistaken, this couldn't happen, especially not in Spain. and definitely not with Lawbirbs who vehemently refute anything that even slightly questions their integrity.

Are you talking about LAST January or next ?
