Today we received our bi monthly bill from Portillo and I analized the charges and compared them with a similar option in the UK
ie ;  Standing charge plus single rate per KWH .

It shows that the KWH rates in Spain are 15% cheaper than the UK but the Standing charge for 2 months would be equal to 8.78 euro's in the UK  against 18.887 in Spain. When you add the Duty and the Iva at 16%, against 5% in the UK  the result is a 20% increase on UK costs.

I would be interested to learn whether Portillo offer a rate per KWH without a Standing Charge.

When ever you are on the complex you can read both the water and electricity meters yourselves. Just  ask Teo to open the cabinets to your property , which are the brick built units generally positioned in the centre of each block.

Quite right Pedro, constructive debate is the first step toward a solution to our current problems.

Anyone that gave serious consideration to the setting up of the community, proir to our meeting in March must have concluded that the first year was going to be a steep learning curve.

We were being handed over to an administrator chosen by the developer for their benifit and not ours.
We had no knowledge of the terms of their contract, experience or payment structure.

We were very fortunate at that meeting when Monica acceped the roll of president but I am sure that she never expected to have to deal with an outfit as careless, incompetant and unprofessional as Seasun.

Monica and the management team have found themselves carrying out the roll of administrators while Seasun sit back and get paid for doing very little. It's a difficult time for our voluntary management team and they need our support to keep the wheels turning until we can get rid of Seasun and appoint a professional set up.

I am not happy that the fenced and gated areas are being locked at anytime because for most of the year these areas  provide much more than just a facility for swimming . But we have to abide by Spanish law and find a solution that meets our needs working within those laws. These are early days for the community and I am  sure that with a little more  tolerance we will find acceptable solutions.

Any problems or  solutions are better being debated constructively on the community web site, we would then all be in a better position to cast our votes at the general meetings.

You are quite right Grumpyoldgit the standards  have been  fixed to the tiled floor with quite small screws, this would be a totally inappropriate method even for a domestic unit . For a commercial unit such as ours these independant standards should extend 225mm into the concrete sub floor and be grouted in position alternatively they could have a 100mm square base plate which should be anchored into the concrets sub floor with 4 anchor bolts.  This is just another of the ways in which we have been short changed by Keymare. We must ensure we have accurate records for the costs of any repairs to put forward to Keymare in the near future.

Hi Steve.
I agree with your proposal, we must get the whole  community to support it and then tackle Keymare head on but we must be sure of the facts. The planning authority will have a complete set of drawings put forward by Keymare and should allow the public to view them. Keymare should have prepared revised drawings for the single storey SPA which should have been lodged with the local builing inspectors.  We need someone with local knowledge of the planning and building regulations to help route out the relevant evidence.
