Hi, does anybody know the situation regarding community rules and regulations and drying laundry outside?

We've had a community notice stating that the "hanging of clothes or towels on the balcony or visible washing lines is against community rules".

I totally agree with discouraging the hanging of towels/laundry over balconies, but I am unsure as to whether they are allowed to rule against the use of non-permanent washing lines.  Due to the construction nature of most residential buildings in this area, it would be virtually impossible to utilise any form of outside drying that wasn't visible to someone!

We have friends who live in the USA, who also suffered similar problems with their community complaining about them using a telescopic line.  However, the President, after speaking with the local council, were told that they were unable to enforce this rule for environmentally-friendly reasons/reduction in carbon emissions, as they would then have been forced to use electrical drying methods.  There are many States within the USA who have now brought in 'Right to Dry' legislation which overrules any community rules or restrictions.

Does anybody know if the EU/Spain has a similar stance, especially as we are supposed to be more aware of the benefits of being energy efficient and helping to reduce greenhouse gases?

Thanks

Hi

As it's so cold this year, especially living in a north facing apartment, we're considering actually using the a/c and under floor heating, although we're a bit worried about getting a huge bill!

Are there any permanent residents who use the heating, and if so, is it any good and how expensive is it?  We're currently using a portable gas fire for heating, and so our electric bills are around 60 euros a month.  A gas bottle lasts around 3 weeks, but only warms where we're sitting.

We're considering moving from here and renting a south facing apartment, but are they actually any warmer inside, as they do have the large overhang which looks as though it prevents any benefit of warming from the sun?  However, we think they must, as we watch our neighbours across from us and they are often in t-shirts, whilst here on the north side we're wearing about four layers of clothes!

Thanks for your help.

Hi

I rent long term in Blq 2 of La Recoleta, and on Sunday evening, between 4.30pm and 5.30pm I had my bike stolen from the garage.  This wasn't an opportune theft, as they came equipped with bolt cutters to cut through my bike lock.  We had two bikes chained together, but they only chose to steal one of them!  One assumes that as all the security doors are continually being left open into the complex, that the thief was able to gain access into one of the blocks and enter the garage.

I have never understood why people find it so difficult to close these doors, even the garage doors (which have signs on asking to keep them closed) are left open.  This made it very easy for the thief to exit the complex with my bike.

I had hoped with all the CCTV cameras around, the thief might have been spotted leaving the complex, but I haven't heard anything from the security guards, so assume that wasn't possible.  Even if it was carried out in the back of a car, I had hoped they might have been able to spot it.  Obviously that's not going to happen now, so I'll just have to save up for another one.

It's too late for me, but I really think something should be done about the open door situation.  I regularly visit friends in La Entrada, and I can never get in via an open door, I always have to buzz.  If they can do it, why can't we?

Thanks

OC

Hi, I'm looking for a cleaner for my changeover cleans/spring cleans, and can offer work immediately, but I need someone who is honest, reliable, and can offer a very high standard of work. Ideally you would have previous hotel experience.

If you think this is you, please PM me and tell me why I should pick you, what you can offer me, and what your charges would be?

You would also need a car as you would be covering the Orihuela Costa and Torrevieja areas.

Thanks in advance for your interest.
