Playing golf in Majorca is a great way to explore the Island as well as enjoying your passion....there are over a dozen courses on the Island which is less than 2hrs flying time on cheap flights to Palma. There are courses to suit all abilities and accommodation to match. Whether you stay in a luxury hotel, a villa or self catering accommodation there is a great choice throughout the Island with the locations ranging from active coastal resorts through to quiet country areas. The Majorcan climate enables you to play virtually the year round with temperatures of over 65deg in the spring and autumn and 80plus in the summer months and with the influence of the sea breezes some players have compared the quality of the greens to those in Augusta. With green fees ranging from £40 to over £150, depending on the size of your group and the course, you have a wide choice of facilities and challenges.

For the keen golfer nothing beats the thrill of playing a great new course in fine weather and relaxing surroundings, so a golfing holiday to Majorca has got to be on the cards for those who love their golf. The island's main airport at Palma is very modern and efficient, allowing hundreds of flight to arrive and leave the island with ease every day. Due to the size of the island all resorts lie within an hours transfer time and with most of Majorca's main route having been upgraded in recent years, you'll be sure of a comfortable transfer to your hotel or villa. Another reason why gold course have seen dramatic improvement in recent times has been the impact of external investment. For many years the island has attracted purchases of holiday homes by visitors from other parts of europe and further afield. There are significant german and Uk populations on Majorca now and although golf is not as popular in Germany as it is in the UK, there are many non-Majorcans who now enjoy golf club membership whilst at their second homes. This is also a reason why golf course on Majorca can be unusually quiet, making for relaxing game for anyone tempted to fly in for a short golfing break.

Some of the clubs that have attracted a lot of investment include the Canyamel Golf Club on the north west tip of the island with it's hilly setting and fantastic scenery and the lovely Poniente Golf Course on the calvia coast. There is also the Son Gual Golf Course which opened in 2006 and was funded by a single private german investor.

The Santa Ponsa golf complex boasts 3 courses including the original Santa Ponsa I which opened in 1977. The clubhouse and facilities rival the best anywhere in Europe and the centre has played host to several PGA events.

Newer courses include the Alcanada Golf Club which opened in 2003 and is the only real coast-side course on Majorca. It boasts view of the sea in the Alcudia bay from every hole. The Maioris Golf Course which opened more recently in 2006 claims to be one of the best courses in Spain and is owned by it's shareholders but guest are still welcome. Finally the Son Quint Golf Club, which opened in 2008, is located in the Son Vida hills on the outskirts of Palma and a short ride from the airport. It is part of the Arabella Golf and Spa resort which is also home to the Son Vida and Son Muntaner courses. There are several luxury hotels nearby and also the stunning K-Bar restaurant and poolside for a post round meal or drink.
