Finca Cortesin Golf Course

Finca CortesinFinca Cortesin, based in Casares Costa, is one name which is slowly becoming known as one of the best courses to play golf in the Costa del Sol region. It is an exhilarating and challenging test of golf to play here. Finca Cortesin Golf Club was designed by Cabel Robinson on a landscape of olive and cork trees with beautiful flowers and plants.

Finca Cortesin is one of the longest courses in Spain. Spain is fortunate to have some of the premium golf courses and clubs comparable to anywhere around the world and Finca Cortesin Golf Club is also one of them. The country has also produced great golfers like Sergio Garcia and Seve Balasteros. The white tees on the course are formidable, but you can manage from the yellow even if you have a high handicap. This 18 hole course which plays to the par of 72 requires a buggy as some walks between the tee and the green are very long as well as grueling.

The greens are lovely to play and enjoy top class maintenance to keep them at such a high level. Bermuda grass which is used is very good for playing and the club management keeps improving the greens, which makes it very interesting to play on this course. The club has a tee off every 15 minutes and you don't have the hassle of waiting too long to start your game.

IN 2009 the World Match Play was held making Finca Cortesin known by the world and a must play course. This will commence from 2009. This is one of the rare golf courses on the Costa del Sol which does not have any houses in between and this allows you to play in a natural ambience with ample space for each hole. Every hole has been designed different from the other and it is very difficult to say which is the best hole on Finca Cortesin.

You will get an extensive panorama of the Estepona Mountains from the 10th, which is par three, long downhill and then the next 11th is an extended double doglegged par 5 which is a challenge and very exciting to play. No doubt the best one at Finca Cortesin is the par four 13th, where you have to drive into the wide fairway which crosses the water hazard. This bequtiful green is encircled by trees and has bunkers on the left and right.

It is possible to hire golf equipments like clubs, trolleys etc and the pro shop also provides you with the tees and balls. The clubs that the course offer are of a high standard but it is always better to bring your own! Playing golf at Finca Cortesin Golf Club or other golf course in Spain is an excellent experience and if you have the chance, you must play several of the wonderful courses which offer a test to golfers of all handicaps.

The open vast terrain and spectacular landscape makes the Finca Cortesin golf course a delight to play.

A very good, fair article. Finca is not cheap to play but if you enjoy your golf it is good value for money. The service that you receive from all at Finca is second to none. A regular supply of free fruit and water brought to you on the course, and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. My husband and I have played it twice and we intend on playing it again when we are next on the Costa del Sol.3/9/2010 5:54:00 PMHelen Close
Not cheap - the last I heard it was €140 which is way out of my price bracket on a pension! However, it's nice to have a contact and URL mentioned in case I want to indulge in something somewhat more akin to what I am used to in the UK3/9/2010 5:58:00 PMBob Trott
