Cheap VPN to continue to watch British TV in Spain when all the channels disappear from satellite
23 February 2013 @ 15:04

It looks like many expats in Spain will need to look at getting a VPN in order to continue to watch British TV in Spain.  According to various reports I've read, many of us in Spain will be losing British TV channels such as BBC, ITV and Channel 4 in the not too distant future.  Particularly those of us on the Costa del Sol.  Channel 5 has already disappeared, although Channel 5 HD is still available via Sky.  Basically, the channels are being moved to a new satellite, Astra 2F,  at 28.2º east.

Although I have SKY TV, I also like using BBC Iplayer and Channel 4 OD on my laptop and hook it up to my HD TV.  I've been using a cheap VPN from a company called for a few years now.  I blogged about it here.

HideIpVPN have various price plans:

$5.99 USD Monthly
$17.00 USD Quarterly
$30.99 USD Semi-Annually
$54.99 USD Annually

The cheapest option is to pay for a full 12 months up front, which works out at $4.58 per month.  That's around £3.00 per month.  A bargain.

I suggest you have a look at S4UVPN. I have found it very good indeed, and also well priced.
