Thats very interesting. We have had problems for ages with damp and it seems its really caused by condensation. Thanks for the info. We'll take some action now.

Good points made about defective services and heaters.
Rising damp caused by lack of vapour barrier ie dpc (damp proof course) between ground level and floor level.
Condensation is also a problem as exterior walls are not properly insulated and with a temperature difference between inside and outside moisture can precipitate.
Until building specifications change there will always be damp problems with Spanish houses. Attention to floor construction would also be a must ie vapour barrier and insulation between ground and foor level. Some remedies will only be a temporary fix due to low specification of materials and construction methods.

We have very similar problems here in Cyprus but our damp proofing courses seem to do the trick and our customers seem to be happy !
