I think the British government have some explaining to do. How can they justify refusing treatment after a 2 year absence to a former (or current) British citizen who has made contributions throughout their working lives - yet provide free treatment to foreign nationals who enter the UK?

Perhaps the answer would be for us all to lobby our local MP's for an answer to this paradox. Surely if enough people raise this issue at parliamentary level it will force the government to see the injustice of it.
