Living in Sweden with a second home in Catalonia I have just been to London with my daughters to do some Xmas shopping. One thing we all noticed was that there were so many more Spanish speaking people in the shops and the restaurants...

Settings:

APN: airtelnet . es (delete spaces, but I can not post in other ways)
Username: vodafone
Password: vodafone
I do not think the username and password are necessary. Also I believe you can set the modem to use dynamic APN and it will pick it up correctly.

You can find more information if you google wetpaint mobile prepaid spain vodafone. There is a site that has a wiki on pay as you go in all countries.

Before signing up for a contract try the service with pay-as-you go. I have a Vodafone SIM card that I use when in Spain. It works very well. I do not use any Vodafonebranded dongle, but I have an unlocked dongle as well as one netbook with a built-in 3G modem (perfect for my holidays).

Get yourself a Visa Electron. I have one just for booking with Ryanair. As I live in Sweden I only know how to get an Visa Electron here (and there are not many who issue it in Sweden). I believe that Halifax offers Electron Cards. Also Entropay can deliver card numbers that work as Visa Electron. It will be well worth it even if you are booking only one or two flights a year...

Hi!
I am a guy from Sweden who is seriously considering buying an apartment in Sant Carles de la Rapita (very south Costa Dorada, close to Costa Azahar). I have found this board from Google and have read quite a few threads...
I have spent the last six summers as well as a the last three autumn mid term breaks in Sant Carles and realised I want to stay in a place where there is infra structure as well as cafes and restaurants open all year.
My Spanish is still only consisting of many nouns (I know menus quite well ) but I can not converse in Spanish (maybe not in English either..).

Why buy now? Well, I think that I when I retire in appr 15 years from now I want to spend most of my time in Spain, and I think the next year(s) will be the best time to make an investment. In a few years the surplus of apartments will be long gone to all the Germans, Dutch, Norwegians as well as Swedes (and Britons) who now are in their 50-s and later realise they want to spend time in Spain.

If anyone has suggestions or advice regarding property buying in Costa Dorada/ Costa Azahar please tag along...
