Hi
We have a long term debtor. Haven't seen or heard from him in years. We have taken an embargo on his property a he is forbidden enter it until he has seen the judge. After 4 years of legal wrangling we will be able to sell his property at public auction before christmas if he doesn't pay his bill.

Here is a true story I overheard between a retired gentleman from Norway and the assistant in the Telefonica office a while ago.
Customer.
I am moving to a new address 100 meters from my present address. Can I arrange to have the telephone connected and use my present telephone number.
Assistant.
No problem, do you have your contract.
Customer.
Yes here it is but its very old.
Assistant.
Do you have your passport.
Customer.
Here it is.
Assistant.
The passport number is different from the one on the contract.
Customer.
That's because the contract is 28 years old and I have had 3 passports in that time.
Assistant.
Well, we need the passport with the same number as on the contract or you have to sign a new contract with a new telephone number.
At this point I realised I could be queing for sometime and left.

In the dealings I had with Endessa when I owned a place near Aguilas I can honestly say that they are the most useless. mismanaged and enfuriating company I have ever had to deal with in my life althoughTelefonica came a close second.
I know someone who managed to get through to them at 4.58pm one afternoon after trying for several days to get someone to answer the phone. Two minutes into the conversation the operative put the phone down because it was the end of his working day. The staff could not understand why the next morning they had an extremely angry customer waiting at the door to geet them.
This is typical of Spain and you need a great deal of patience to live here.
I have moved to the Costa Blanca North where I now deal with Iberdrola. After a tricky start I'm now registered on the web site and they send me an e-mail alert as the bills come in. I go on line, download my bill, pay it over the internet, great!
So, Iberdrola is one company I know in Spain that operates in the 21st century. Are there others?
Telefonica is still as useless though. The company is run by idiots.

Sadly you are right.
The Spanish know nothing about customer service and the general attitude of those employed in public services or utilities stinks. The Spanish Police are nothing more than traffic wardens. The Guardia have bigger teeth but it's it's a self financing paramilitary organization and it's hard to get them interested in anything unless it earns them money.
Good luck with business though.

I agree about Sevillana Endessa.
I had to deal with the Endessa office in Vera a number of times and I can say without doubt that they are the most useless company I have ever had to deal with anywhere or anytime.
I tried to contact them many times over 2 years to tell them they hadn't taken any money for my electricity consumtion. When they finally did they made a huge mistake, overcharged me, tried to take a huge amount by direct debit without warning me and when there wasn't enough in the account to cover it they switched me off in an instant.
I tried to resolve the situation by phone with office in Vera. After 4 days I finally got to talk with someone at aound 12.55pm. At 13.00pm precisely the phone went dead and despite many attempts I couldn't get back in touch.
In a fury I arrived at the Vera office the next morning. Managed to speak to the woman whom I had been dealing with the day before and I asked her why she cut me off? Her reply was that it was 1 oclock and that's the end of her working day. I asked if it was normal just to cut someone short in mid conversation and she replied yes it is! And asked me very rudely, just what is my problem.
She thought I was crazy.
After I presented my meter readings they accepted there had been a mistake. They raised a new bill. I tried to pay on my credit card but no. They wouldn't take cash. I couldn't transfer directly into their account because they had no way of tracing where the money came from. They wouldn't set up a new direct debit with my bank because the bank had already rejected the first request. They wanted me to set up a new direct debit with another bank ???????
They made it impossible for me to pay the bill. So I went home and although it's illegal I switched the power on again and I never saw or heard from them again and I sold the property to some Spanish people a year later. They checked the outstanding amount with Endessa which was a fraction of what my unpaid bill from Endessa was the previous year. I glady paid the new owners the outstanding sum in cash and ran.
Dealing with many Spanish companies such as Telefonica and the Correos is like banging your head against the wall but by for complete and utter incompetence you would have to go a long way to beat Endessa? Absolutely useless!
