Although you're with Energia/Endesa, your kwh rate is similar to mine: 0.4579

Like me you pay the misleadingly named energy cost/Costes de la energía (72,25 €) which doesn't appear on Kavanagh's or floella's bills.

I'm not at home at the moment and can't quote from the information I received about it but it appeared to be a government decision, the Real Decree reference was quoted.   It introduced a charge based on the variation in the electricity rate on the market over the period covered by the bill and of course the rate is only going in one direction.  I got the impression this charge was to appear on all customers' bills - obviously not so.  Should have investigated further at the time, my bad.

floella, I'm shocked at your charges per kwh, 114 euros for 854 kwh is less than half what I paid.

I'd settle for Kavanagh's charges per kwh, mine are even more enormous - 0.4265 / kwh

the differences are incomprehensible especially as all 3 of us are with Iberdrola

IVA @ 21%   = 33.43

Last year IVA on domestic electricity bills was reduced from 21% to 10% and this year a further reduction brought it down to 5%, as shown on both my bill and Kavanagh's.

Why's IVA on your August 2022 bill still 21%

'Nothing seems to add up to 149,87€'

Quite right, 149,87€ isn't related to any of the previous charges.  For example this bill for 432 kwh had an energy charge of 149,87€ whereas the previous month it was 137,92€ on use of 449 kwh.  It's supposed to be based on the daily cost of electricity on the market but there are no details as to exactly how it's calculated.

You can also see that without the energy charge the total cost of my 432 kwh before taxes of 0.5% and 5% was only 24.90€ and I'm certainly liable for more than that.  The problem with the energy charge is that it's a completely opaque amount.  I thought everyone was subject to it but now I know that's not the case.  The local Iberdrola staff have always been very helpful in the past and I'll be telling them I want the type of plan that gives me full details of the calculation of each of the charges in the same way yours does.  It's a great help to have your breakdown as a concrete example.

Thanks Kavanagh, that's very instructive.  I'm on Iberdrola's 3 Period Plan and my last bill was for 432 kwh so roughly a quarter of your total of 1,685 kwh but whereas you paid 470,78 €, I paid 184,24€.

It looks as if you're not charged the 'energy cost' which started to appear on my bills and is explained as a regulated charge relating to the daily cost of electricity, meaning it's been rising even when the number of kwh I use falls.

My latest bill:

Amount of power transmission and distribution charges:
P1 (peak): 6,9 kW x 34 days x 0,062982 /kW day 14,78
P2 (off-peak): 6,9 kW x 34 days x 0,002572 /kW day 0,60

Amount of power charges:
P1 (peak): 6,9 kW x 34 days x 0,008701 /kW day 2,04
P2 (off-peak): 6,9 kW x 34 days x 0,00056 /kW day 0,13

Fixed retail margin:
6,9 kW x 34 days x 0,008529 /kW day 2,00

Billing for energy consumed ("VARIABLE TERM"):
Amount of energy transmission and distribution charges:
P1 (peak): 27 kWh x 0,027787 /kWh 0,75
P2 (flat): 76 kWh x 0,019146 /kWh 1,46
P3 (off-peak): 329 kWh x 0,000703 /kWh 0,23

Amount of energy charges:
P1 (peak): 27 kWh x 0,046622 /kWh 1,26
P2 (flat): 76 kWh x 0,009324 /kWh 0,71
P3 (off-peak): 329 kWh x 0,002331 /kWh 0,77

Energy cost149,87
Electricity tax 0,5% s/174,6:  0,87
Subtotal: 175,47
IVA Reducido 5% s/175,47:  8,77
TOTAL 184,24

I'll be going down to Iberdrola's office to see about changing to another plan.
