I've heard that it's very very hot in summer and then very very cold in winter...     it's the real desert area.

oh how excited I was to find that I had been sent a private message.  I filled in the information box that the reason I wanted to use the service was because someone had sent me a message.  How disappointing then that SpainOps had sent a spam message about their 'finders service'.

How sad that again a useful forum where real people can talk about real issues/problems/solutions and then 'business' gets involved.     I can see at this very moment a large yellow box which says 'Advertise here'...so why don't they do that rather than private message people?

I thought that someone wanted to ask my opinion or something from my experiences in Spain or from having a Spanish partner, not from a company selling a service I don't need.

I was someone who whilst in Spain told whoever showed an interest that the Almanzora Country Club had never had proper licences...at the same time that agents such as Medsea or Parador were virtually handcuffed to couples being shown computer generated images of what 'their' villa will look like.    If that information had helped just one couple in changing their mind then that was something good.   That is what forums like this are for, to warn, suggest, recommend.....

Sorry for the moan....

I'm married to a Spaniard and we have two little children.  We have lived in Spain but are now living in the UK....but wish to return to Spain again!   We own our own flat in a town called Cuevas del Almanzora, in the old part of town so not a new build which is falling down (feel so sorry for people buying those out of town places as  some are starting to have serious cracks and other major problems etc.).  Our flat is on the market but we accept that in this climate we will keep hold of it and live in it when we return until we find a perfect place (an old cortijo with space for our boys to run around).  I just wish that each time we find a place that the paperwork would match up with what actually exists for the eye!   There are so many time wasters (sorry to say lots of Brits) who 'believe' that their properties are worth X but actually if the deeds aren't right then it is worth only what someone wants to pay for it.

We are chomping at the bit as they say to return to Spain but also we are nervous as the economy there is dead and there is no work (most of husbands family are struggling at the moment and that is without any of them having mortgages to pay).

Anyway, I hope to share info and receive info on this site so welcome!

Hello, we will be doing the same trip, from Charlton Village.   We've heard that it's best to go via Portsmouth on the ferry to Spain rather than driving through France.  But, will you be wanting to take leisurely drive down through France as part of your trip?  The west coast of France is what others have said and then down to Spain through to Barcelona and then down.  Or via Madrid and down through Albacete? We will be going within a couple of months (depending on selling the place here) so we can let you know if we take a good route!
