Regarding the sunglasses 'advice' read this from SNOPES who are a very well known hoax site, very well respected. See what's said about sunglasses, they HAVE to be POLARIZED! Non-polarised sunglasses will increase the hazzard & NEVER wear sunglasses (polarized) at night in this situation. The practice is dangerous.

Your post says "In the event you face such a situation, just put on your SUNGLASSES (any model will do), and miracles! All of a sudden, your visibility in front of your windshield is perfectly clear, as if there is no rain..
