Spain Top for Property Investment

If I had to put together a chart of hotspots that offered steady, year in, year out profits, Spain would be right at the top in the number one spot! It just keeps rolling along, year in and year out. The latest price stats for Spain show that property prices have risen on average by 6.7 per cent over the past year. Where’s it happening most of all? Galicia rose by 19.3 per cent. Catalonia rose by 13.2 per cent. Also in this week are the results of the Homes Overseas Magazine awards. All the retirement homes named are in Spain and the best development is named as Sol Andalusi, a healthy living resort about 20 kilometres from Malaga. Spain? You can’t beat it!

Brit-based readers will be interested to know that the Homes Overseas Exhibition is being held this weekend at Earl’s Court in London. The event runs from Friday 1 to Sunday 3 September from 10.30am to 5.00pm, and features properties form all over the world, including Spain. Autumn is traditionally the biggest season in the overseas property market and this show is the first of many that are worth visiting. There are also seminars on such matters as overseas laws and tax and currency exchange rates. Tickets are £5 on the door.

Interesting to read about the results of the Ministry of Environment work at El Palmar which has been aimed at conserving the sand dunes, removing alien plant life and planting native species back into the area. The work has also seen better access to the beach with more services for the physically disabled. The beach is also due to be widened with 600,000 cubic metres of sand and have silica particle collectors installed to encourage further growth. A big plus for the area.

Those of you who are UK based may find it worthwhile visiting the Property Investor Show at ExCeL in London on 22 to 24 September. The show will feature property and services from more than 250 exhibitors including house builders, developers, estate agents, lenders, brokers, designers, landlord associations etc. You can get tickets at www.propertyinvestor.co.uk There will also be seminars and these can be booked via the site. I particularly like the look of two. Due Diligence! Due Diligence! Due Diligence! by Claire Brown of Claire Brown Realty. Due diligence is something that sometimes seems to be forgotten in the rush for profits! Multicurrency Mortgages for Professional Investors by Hugh Clark of Multicurrency Mortgages is another that looks useful. The idea needs some thought not least when sterling is so high at present. You can book these via the site.

Until next week – or earlier if you join me at www.internationalpropertyalerts.co.uk for free! This is a good time to join as we have two free newsletters coming out to you in the next two weeks. Good, solid how-to advice, and not an ad in sight!

All for now
