Just wondering if anyone had tried this wine from Mercadona?  I think it's one of the best value wines you can get in Spain.

Will have to try these. I like Campo Viejo  Tinto ( think that is the correct name ) .It is about 3 euros at Masymas but when Itried to buy iy in UK I could find it for less than  £7.

Tempranillo wine at Lidl's for 1.09 € can't be beaten in my opinion &, for one day only recently, they sold it for 72c. Needless to say we bought a few!

Most wine is good value in Spain.  My current favourite is a Mederaño from Supersol.  It's expensive though...at 4 Euros

Lovely wine, people always think it's a really expensive bottle.

Hola Nesbeth

Which Jumilla wine do you buy?  We live in town and when we have overspent (!!) John goes to Silvano Garcia with a plastic bottle, as we can buy their table wine for 0.80 € a litre!  If we are splashing out, we either buy 3 bottles of wine for 8€ at Campañero or the cava from BSI at 3.14€.  If you really want to be extravagant, why not try Alceño 2009 tinto, which costs around 3.60 €? (We can´t remember the actual cost as we haven´t bought it recently as we have been too busy going around Jumilla trying out their "Vino y Queso" for 2 €!)

Dear All,

Ouch that really hurts, you lucky people.

we have just had a day trip to Calais and filled the car, but I doubt that the quality compares and prices certainly don't.

but what about a good desert wine to finish?

we buy Moscatel de Valencia in Tesco at Calais for 3+ euros but have never seen it in Spain.

am I looking in the wrong places?

enjoy.

Regards

Norman

Torres Sangre de Torro is one of our favourites.  We can usually get it for around 3.70E in Spain, over here in the UK you're hard pushed to find it for less than £7.  Very nice wine (well, we think so).

We are buying Moscatel in Aldi or Lidl in San Javier Murcia for under 2 euros a bottle. Spanish people use it for soaking dried fruit. We do it now- in a word- delicious!

Yes, that Lidl Tempranillo for 1.09 € is very good value as well.  It's the Navarra one isn't it?

Dear All,

thanks we like Lidl in France but don't buy much wine in their UK stores

The €1,59 Navarra red in Lidl is also a good budget wine.  More details here.

My favourite is a red from Aldi - Heredad de Loza from La Mancha.  At about 95c a bottle it is wonderful - and the spanish restaurant next door uses it as it's house red!

We normaly drink Comportillo Crianza as an everyday red from Mercadona at 2.60 euros.  They have the same type in joven at 1.75 euros and the reserva at 4.50 euros.  Two weeks ago I spotted a red in the laid down section in Mercadona called "Señorío de Llanos" Valdepeñas gran reserva 2003 at 3.00 euros we really enjoyed it so I went back the next day and bought all the remainder on the shelf (about 6 bottles) but fortunately they have restocked. (her in dooors said I can't buy anymore just yet, lol)  You will need to be carefull because most of the other main supermercados have this same wine but only the reservas, 2004 & 2005 at the same price but this could be just as good.

Keep pulling them corks.

Geoff y Pat
