Hi all,
I have not been on the forum as my computer finally exploded!
I have now purloined a really "old" one from my Daughter's cellar, (Justin, I have an older model than yours now!)
However, I have lost ALL of my e-mail contact details!
Also lost the links to the websites that I post weekly regarding my donations to baby Emma's appeal (there were many and I am now lost!)
If anyone knows the links, maybe you have seen my posts on them? Send them to me please!
If there are any members that I have private e-mailed who would still like to talk to me, please send an e-mail so I can save your details!
Spent all day getting this old heap up and running and now I find the keyboard is weird!
If I want to type ", I have to use shift and the @ sign.
If I want to type @, I have to use shift and the " sign!!!
Any helpers on this one please?

Hi Fibby
It sounds like the Keyboard is not set up as a UK keyboard, probably US, You can rectify by going to Control panel and selecting Keyboard, You may find that the driver needs re-installing

Try typing the pound sign £ and if you get a dollar $ it has probably defaulted to US keyboard. Go into regional and language settings from control panel and make sure it says United Kingdom.

I changed to English Uk, applied it and it still wrong!!!

Fibby, what you been doing with the computer? Honestly leave you alone for two minutes and you make a mess!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is the old one completely goned? I still have my old lap top which as you know has a broken back light but may have some salvage propreties if will help? How's the hip???????????????????????????????????? Take care xx

You could try this FibbyUK
First of get to the command prompt window
Click Start, Run and then type cmd and click OK. A Dos window will be displayed
From the command prompt, type keyb uk, and see if that works. If not see below. One of em should work for you.
To set the code page at a command prompt, change the settings on the International tab in the System Configuration utility.
To start the System Configuration utility, follow these steps:

Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, and then point to System Tools. |
| 2. |
Click System Information. |
| 3. |
On the Tools menu, click System Configuration Utility. |
To use an alternate method to start the System Configuration utility, follow these steps:
| 1. |
Click Start, and then click Run. |
| 2. |
In the Open box, type Msconfig. |
| 3. |
Click OK. |
| 4. |
In the Msconfig tool, on the International tab, set the Keyboard Layout to the correct language (for an example see the keyb parameters above). |
| 5. |
In the Keyboard Data File Name "C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\keyboard.sys", edit the line so that it is only "keyboard.sys". |
| 6. |
Close Msconfig and restart the computer. |

hi all
Need some help for a neighbour of mine - computer when starts up just goes round in circles.
Have tried starting in safe mode - but no joy
Have started and tried to reconfigure start up - no joy
Think we need a professional ..........any one know of a decent computer bod - we are Riviera del Sol - midway between Fuengirola and Marbella
Windows XP ... if that helps
Mind you she would be very happy if it is declared a dodo ..... she has her eye on a very nice laptop!

Thanks to all of you for helping me!
I am now the proud "Owner" of a lovely laptop, loaned, not purloined JeanSis!, from my daughter Kelly.
So, back on track now and just off to see what's been happening in my absence.

Yes, you must have, cos' we are all a good bunch on here aren't we?!
BUT, can't get used to the mouse in the middle of this keyboard, he is red, round, full of cheese and my cat is sniffing round my legs............
