Granada, Motril, Malaga Motorway

Tried looking on the net, but cannot find any info!!

Does anybody know if the motorway is finished yet? If not any finish date?

Not sure about the Malaga-Motril leg; there may still be the odd patch around the eastern end near Nerja, but the Motril-Granada stretch is fully complete and open. Has been for about six months now.

Driving from Almeria down to Marbella at the wekend is it just the area around Nerja thats not motorway?

nope it's not finished. I drove from Murcia to Malga in November and took the coastal route rather than via Granada. Last leg was arduous when the motorway ran out, lots of curves and bends and little overtaking and there are lots of roadworks on the run from where the motrorway end to outside Nerja. Nice drive if you are not in a hurry though as there is some coastal scenery to admire

Over at Easter and was hopeful it would be completed, The section from Granada to Motril is very impressive when I was over in October, but just ends, then the old road to Almuneha and back to the motorway, so fingers crossed that section finished soon!!

Do you know where motor starts and finishes? Which towns and how long is break (in distance)

Andalucia PSOE representatives were questioned about ten days ago on the state of play re the AP-7 between Adra.Motril and Nerja.

They estimated that 70% of the route is complete and the remainder due completion in 2011.

Jeb; see this link about the AP-7; prior to its upgrade it used to be (and still is, in parts, the N-340.)

It is the longest road in Spain, running from Barcelona to Cadiz via the coast some 1200kms.
