Who is expected to actually front and control an AGM?

We have had 8 hour meetings run by previous presidents and after his removal changed our administrator and enjoyed well organised meeting of just a couple of hour - fronted by the new administrator.

Our Spanish owners say that it is normal that the administrator runs the meeting. Our current president tried to run last years meeting and it became a shambles.

This year she is proposing to appoint a chairman to control the meeting from within the owners. Apart from the difficulty of finding an impartial person to do the job some of us would prefer the administrator to front the meeting. again.

Any views would be welcome

At our AGMs its always been the Administrator who has run and controlled the meeting, supported by a translater into English. We once lost a couple of hours debating over whether to agree on what had been spent by the community in the previous year - what was the point of debating - we'd spent it hadn't we!!?? but then, it was our first AGM and we were naive. Now, we stick to the agenda, yes we may peruse the accounts, but to be honest we have a pretty well run community and have had a couple of fantastic presidents over the years.

Theoretically, it is the President's job to run the AGM. However, in practice I suppose anyone could do it as long as it has been approved by the Community.

As long as the Administrator ( who is employed by the Community and DOES NOT run the Community ) sticks to the agenda set by the President, it is possibly ok, but surely the best person to do it would be your President who has been voted in by the majority of owners?

Perhaps a few ground rules could be submitted? eg. So many minutes discussion on each point ( you'll need someone with a stopwatch and a firm voice ! )

It's always difficult at AGM as this is often the only time when there is a gathering of owners and they will all have differing views and want/need to make thier point.
