We pick up the keys to our new place in Torrequebrada in a couple of days. Although it is furnished there are a number of things we need to purchase, including towels, bedding and general household goods. Anyone got any suggestions of the best quality/value places to buy from. I guess we are looking anywhere between Malaga and Fuengirola.

With thanks, Dave

We found it was cheaper to buy the items you mentioned in the UK and take them out with us. Kevin

Dunnes Stores in Fuengirola is great for linen and decorations.  The Yorkshire linen company in Fuengiriola near Dunnes is also good for linen and specially towels.  La Cañada is great for garden furniture and kithen equipment.  Ikea is good for furniture.  Good luck!

Dunnes stores are definatly the best for quality and price- very good quality linen and towels all at rock bottom prices...€3 hand towel, €6 towel..the same quality as M&S.

Dunnes store is the best place for house hold goods by far, good value for money. And yes they will be shut Saturday as it is the 1st May, labour day.

Hi Sam Campbell

Thank you for that it has saved us a long journey.  We spent last Sunday checking what we needed in our local store so we knew exactly what we had to buy guess we will have to do it next time we are out there cos this one is only a long weekend.  Ah well.

Thanks again

Jojan

Hi All

HELP needed - yet again.  We have been looking to purchase a telescopic rotary clothes airer and found one in Sabinellas which was priced at 75 euros (thought this was a bit expensive as they are only £20 in Asda) the problem now is getting one from Asda over there.  We are waiting for a reply from Jet2 to find out how much it will cost and we are now wondering if it is so much trouble at a cost of 50p per minute to get through to Jet2 we might as well have paid the 75 euros, the box is only 118 cm x 11.5 cm x 10.5 cm and weighs just 5 kilos.  It is amazing they have had to go to another department to find a price for us and they will have to ring us back (wonder if they will).   Well I have babbled on now sorry, but does anybody know where you can buy one of these items from other than the Ferreteria in Sabinellas?   Does anybody know if Leroy Merlins sell them by any chance cos we can't find info on the website?

Cheers

Jojan

The advice, really, is to look around.  We couldn't find one in Spain, like you, for less than about 70 euros so we bought one in UK (Argos at about 25 quid) and shipped it over with our goods.

Then, when looking at a local ferret shop, we saw loads ranging from 25 to 110 euros!!!  I think the big places like Aki and Leroy Merlin were very expensive.  The problem is they seem to only stock the most expensive ones rather than the cheaper ones like the UK shops do (Argos, Wilko, Asda etc).  The same with kettles (how's that for a thread drift?) as they only stock the more expensive ones for around 60 euros plus rather than the own brand UK ones for a tenner or less.

Have a look at your local ironmongers, many have a little garden bit where the clothes lines tend to hide. There are also Brico Depots (run by Kingfisher, same company as B&Q) that do them but don't where you nearest one is.  Almeria, Granada and Jerez are around your area, I think.

Hello

Try argos-spain.co.uk. They have a few at different prices from just under 12 Euros to about 80 euros.. Delivery appears to be 9.95 euros.

As Jean says ......... go to Argos site ..rotary airers are here

Delivery info here to Spain

Delivery (as Jean said) ......

5.1 This website is only for delivery of products to customers in mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands. Delivery charge is €9.95 per order. We are not obliged to deliver to anywhere outside of these areas. All goods must be signed for by an adult aged 18 years or over on delivery.

5.2 We will endeavour to deliver within 14 working days of receiving your order and we will make every effort to deliver goods within these timescales, however delays are occasionally inevitable due to unforeseen factors. Argos shall be under no liability for any delay or failure to deliver the products within estimated timescales.

5.3 Risk of loss and damage of products passes to you on the date when the products are delivered or on the date of first attempted delivery by us.

Hi Everyone

Thank you so much for your help that is most useful.  Do Argos only do delivery to mainland Spain or is there a store anywhere near Duquesa?

NO, you HAVE to buy online or there MAY be someone in your area who will take orders ... like there  USED to be in ours ... but they added 20% to the order anyway.

I'm sorry but Argos in Spain looks as kosher to me as a McDonald's Chicken Burger does to a Rabbi!!!!

Just take a look at the 'same pages' from the official UK website and the 'Spanish' website:

Argos.co.uk - Bookcases and Shelving and Argos Spain - Bookcases and Shelving

I'm not saying rip-off prices as they seem very good prices...just far to many differences!

We're discussing buying a rotary airer from Argos-Spain. co.uk from under 12€ plus 9.95€, compared with those a lot more in Spain as far as Jojan can find, not bookshelves & shelving.

Ok! You got me!

But the topic did get around to Argos-Spain, and we are talking about 'where to buy goods'...

So, the same analogy

Argos.co.uk - Rotary Airers and Argos Spain - Rotary Airers

Again, way to many differences in how the websites look and operate.
