I have size 8 feet - 42 here - and am finding it very hard to find shoes down here in the Marbella/Estepona area. When I go into a shoe shop and ask for my size the assistants reel in shock or just laugh in my face. I have thus saved a fortune since I have lived here but it does get a bit frustrating when I see all the gorgeous Spanish shoes but none to fit me! I've been told that they do make them in larger sizes but that these are exported to Britain and Holland. Great. There's a small selection in El Corte Ingles but I balk at the prospect of paying over €100 for a pair of flip-flops.
I wonder if anyone has come across a shop in the area (even in Malaga) or if I must resign myself to spending my trips back to Blighty trawling round Bluewater or Lakeside looking for footwear? We had a brilliant shoe-buying experience in Prague a while back - Land of the Giants - but to date no luck here on the Costa Del Sol.
I know that the Spanish are generally smaller in stature than northern Europeans but would have thought that there are now so many tall, bigger-boned people living here that there would be a market for larger shoes. Any suggestions would be appreciated, girls. Perhaps it's a gap in the market waiting to be exploited by one of our budding entrepreneurs! _______________________

I sympathise with you, Rose, as I, too, am a size 8 &, whenever I go shopping for shoes in the UK, IF I see something I like, the shop never seems to have my size in.
I actually like the FlyFlot range so I'm buying online from www.shoe-shop.com I'm just about to order some rather comfy looking mules, go look at them. I've got two pairs of FlyFlot mules already & they are so comfortable.
I appreciate this doesn't help you out there, unfortunately. They say they deliver to Spain but they charge £20 per pair seemingly for the first pair then £10 per pair after that, which is a NO NO !!!

Thanks Janice - I had thought of mail order and if I could be sure the shoes would fit then it might be worth paying the postage costs, but with my luck I'd probably need to send them back! The more disturbing thing is that the daughter's feet are already the same size as mine - and she's only thirteen. I shall continue my search.......... _______________________
