A friend who has a holiday home in Benijofar has asked to find out what channels he will be able to get on a 1.4m dish & what times they are available, he does not have room for a bigger dish.

Regards

Ken

Not a lot, you need a 1.9 dish at least. Don't waste your time with the 1.4 dish.

you may be lucky and get BBC and ITV for some of the day, but their signals are weakest around midnight and so you may lose these during the evening....

they will, with a sky card, pick up around 60-80% of the sky pay tv channels.

otherwise you are stuck with the 250 free to air channels that mainly consist of text sex and shopping channels...

Not entirely correct.

Whilst in many instances a 1.45 dish on is on  the cusp of what is receivable on a dish of this size - it does vary from location to loction. Sat & PC guy is basing this on his location which is further North - where he is correct in what he says as the signal is weaker.

We have installed a 'true' 1.45 in Benijofar in the last couple of weeks and client is receiving all the channels - would happliy use client as a refferral so you could ask them yourselves.

actually i am basing this on what other have posted and said on various other forums and posts and emails about reception in the area.

of course reception depends on many other things apart from dish size, like receiver, lnb type, local situation (trees, line of sight, local interference), length and type of cable,

but advise is always go for the biggest dish that space and budget allows.
