If you already have the dogs pet passport then overland the cost is about £500. I sent two dogs out in Sept 08 for £700 and i just sent one back Sept 09 and it cost me 498 euros. We opted for the overland method due to the dogs age and did not think he would cope well with the flight. I think Monarch charge about £350 to fly a dog.
If you do not have a pet passport expect to pay about £300 in vet fees to obtain one.

Hello,
We bought our two dogs and cat from the U.K.to Spain in August. We drove to Plymouth then boarded the ferry for Santandar. The kennels on board were very clean and we could spend as much time as we wanted on the excercise deck (seating all around). Both our dogs are getting on one 9 and one 10 but they adapted very well on the ferry. Driving from Santandar took us about 9 hours but we stopped every two-three hours and let them get out of the car and have a little walk. I think it was about £38 for each dog and £16 for the cat who had to stay in the car.
We are going back to the U.K. in just over a week for the Christmas holiday again with our two dogs and a spanish dog which we adopted. They all have passports which is the biggest expense but because I had more than one I got a discount so it pays to shop around.
Good luck
Pamela Platt
