Hi, I have been updating the thread called "if you love dogs & cats please read this" and haven't been in Spain long, I am now trying to help out a dog rescue centre with a little of my spare time, I am hoping to try and arrange some fundraising events and raise awareness of the centre locally .

Has anyone got any ideas on what  to do as I have never organised one before, I have taken part many a time but never had to think them up my self.

If you could let me know of any good ones you have been to or have caught your eye that would be great. Any where that does free advertising? Any thing you might think that can help. Thank you

Hi SEAK

It will depend on where you and the rescue center are. Find out what your target audience is, and how big.

You would need to check out the legalities in spain, but a few ideas could be: -

Raffle tickets - Christmas will soon be here

Open day for a price -free wine etc.

Dog training

Set up a small web site - how about dog/cat adoption - pay 2 euro a month to receive information and pictures etc.

Find a popular music venue - see who pulls the crowd, use them to organisize a dance

Curry evenings, Bingo - etc

The list is endless

I have played in bands for 40ish years, and have raised 1000s for charity

Its all a matter of recognising the opportunities

Hope this gives you some ideas

All the best

Phil

Thanks for the great ideas, I think like you say I need to do a bit of research of what has worked here before, we are in Alcaidesa so my first idea was to target the golf courses all be it I don't play but i'm sure if they have enough money to spend €80 a game they can surley do something for charity, also Sotogrande is just down the road and they seem to all have dogs and plenty of money so I think a bit of awareness of what is going on behind the scenes is needed. Good old what you don't see doesnt hurt you and all that!

Any more ideas please keep posting ....... Thanks again
