Dogs in Cars
| The Comments |
Quick question, re dogs travelling in cars, in Spain.
Someone told me recently that it was illegal to drive in Spain with dogs who weren't in a specific "cage", while another suggested that as long as the dogs were restrained and unable to interfere with the driver, that was sufficient.
I've tried to find the specific ruling on this, but with little joy.
As the owner of a boxer and dalmation who like a trip out in the car (and are impeccably behaved while travelling), it would be good to know whether I'm going to get stopped and hit with a hefty fine for a technicality.
Cheers,
Mark.

Hi;
I havent seen anything about caging dogs in cars; but they should most definitely be restrained and enclosed, both for their protection and that of the driver/passengers. 100lbs of German Shepherd being thrown from the back hatch into the drivers lap in the case of a crash or an emergency stop could definitely spoil your day.

Cheers, FB,
Sorry, having reread my initial post, it's not clear, but I do restrain my dogs already. Not just for them, but as you quite rightly pointed out, for the damage they could wreak should the worst happen. I've seen the advert. I don't want to be covered in pizza.
Just wanted to make sure additional legislation had not been passed and we weren't braking some new law.
