Has anyone else had similar problems?
I purchased a home using the agent known as Spanish Inland Properties in Galera, Granada, Spain a few years ago I am writing this review to warn others of how to limit risk in this process, but I personally would recommend that you use one of the many other good agents in the area.
The agents also introduced / recommended a solicitor to deal with the sale and legal paper work a decision I deeply regret now and I strongly recommend that you find your own independent legal representative who does not have a conflict of interests as the solicitor will clearly favour the agent who he gets all his work from rather than any individual client. You will not get fair treatment from a solicitor recommended by an agent, be warned.
I have spoke to many others who feel the same as I do, and would NOT recommend Spanish Inland Properties as a professional company, even though they have a excellent web site and say they cover all angles, they do not.
They will mislead you, and once any payment is handed over the after sales service stops right there. When it comes to the legalities of living in Spain, getting water, repairs, roads, power, paperwork you are on your own. I thankfully have been able to escape the area and problems without losing too much money, but I received no assistance from Spanish Inland Properties in doing this.
I can only write this review as I have now left the area, others are sill bound by the tight grip / fear that this agent holds over residents of the area, with outstanding repairs and paperwork taking years; no one dares speak out in fear that they will never complete the legalities or get repairs done.
I have recently heard of a couple who put all their money into a property, and had it refurbished by builders recommended by this estate agent, they have lost everything, the workmanship is so poor the patio has all but collapsed down the hill side and even after reducing the price by two thirds are still unable to sell the property due to the poor work. Others have had power cut off, been told they have to knock down part of their property as it is illegal or waited months for snagging jobs to be done, and if you take the agent to task, they tell you to keep away from their office as they no longer wish to deal with you!! Is that the service you expect from a good agent?
Best wishes, Spain IS a wonderful place, and I am more than happy with my new property and the agents and solicitor I used.
