INHERITANCE TAX

HI ,My name is nigel and I  retired in 2007 owing to ill health of my father.

Please can you help me with a problem.I have recently inherited a property from my mother and have been told that one has to be resident for 5 years in Spain.If  I only got my Residentia in June 2008 can I still inherite the property and pay the appropriate Inheritance Tax.My Parents have lived in Spain for 10 Years.

Of course you can inherit the property and pay the corresponding inheritance tax without being a spanish resident!
