HI,

I am due to complete in March and the builder suggests that I take on the builder's mortgage, but as the banks are now tightening up on lending money, he is proposing that I apply for the mortgage, through what I consider to be a fraudulent route.  Can anyone recommend a good mortgage broker, I have made staged payments and stand to lose about £35,000 if I do not complete on the purchase.   Part of the purchase plan was that the builder arranged the mortgage, but I didn't have any idea that he would expect me to falsify documents, I feel sick all the time.  I have quickly filled out a form with the Halifax for an agreement in principle offer, but its not looking good.

Alyson

As I posted in your other thread Just bought in spain, Alyson. I also saw you had posted 'Halifax agreed in principle to give me a mortgage on MONDAY of this week, today they have changed their critria, and have now refused me'

A good mortgage broker is Smiley on EOS. If he can't fix you up with what you want maybe no one can, contact Patrick.

Hi Alyson,

I am sorry to hear about this and of course it must be a very stressful situation for you.  What the builder is suggesting is completely illegal and extremely bad practice.  I do not know your circumstances, but I do know that the Halifax has very tight criteria. There are still lenders that have a higher level of debt / income ratio so depending on your requirements / circumstances there may be a lender that can help you, the right way!

Good luck!

Hi Sharon

Thanks for your kind words, its nice to know that someone is listening, as I am beside my self.  The problem I have is that I don't want to borrow very much, but banks will not accept my income, disability living allowance and rental income plus small salary, even though I can easily cover mortgage repayments.

Best wishes

Alyson
