I'm going to be moving house soon and am considering hiring a 7.5 tonne truck to move all my stuff. Is the entitlement here the same as UK. I let my HGV2 lapse a few years ago, but am still entitled to drive up to 7.5tonne gvw?

The answer is on your licence. Do you have C1 entitlement or not?

A month late I know but if you passed your UK test prior to 1997, you have automatic 'grandfather rights' that cover you up to 7.5 tonnes.

If you passed after 1997 you are limited to 3.5tonnes until you take the HGV test.
